Past Events - Youth Circus Festival 2021

The 3 day inaugural Youth Circus Festival was organised by Circability Trust as part of Youth Week 7-9th May 2021 and held at the Corbans Estate Arts centre in Auckland. The aim of the event was to bring together young circus enthusiasts and empower them to actively participate in the future development of circus arts in Aotearoa / New Zealand. Participants came from Northland down to Wellington and Christchurch.

Following the festival, youth circus representatives from Northland and Auckland came together in Waipu in June to catch-up and reconnect again after the festival. They formed the “Circ.Us - Circus growing together“ regional Youth Circus Network - aiming to set up ongoing youth circus programmes and festivals with a youth led focus.

Need a rigger?

It can be hard to know who to contact for circus rigging in New Zealand, especially when there is no qualification specifically for circus rigging. We have compiled a list of known and trusted riggers across the country who have relevant expertise and experience for our industry.

This resource is only available to ANZCA members.

ANZCA Resources

Your ANZCA membership

We’ve been updating our systems and improving our website so that our members find it easier to navigate and understand how being a member can benefit them. Here are some benefits of being an ANZCA member:

  • Access to awesome members-only resources (e.g., Circus Safe and the Experienced Riggers list).

  • Access to a directory of ANZCA members and their profiles (see who else is out there).

  • Being able to vote for steering committee members (who then lead the way forward for ANZCA and its priorities).

Login to your ANZCA account to have a look! We’re also keen to have feedback on other things you would find useful to have on this platform.

Upcoming Events

There are some awesome events coming up in the near future! Check them out:

Kanohi Kitea - Māori Culture & Circus Arts

Kanohi Kitea is conceived as a two - day Wānanga held in Auckland 8 - 9th August for encounters between Māori performing arts and related practices, such as Te Whare Tapere, circus arts, and in particular community circus. This event has been created in order to foster conversation about issues central to health and cultural wellbeing.

Our kaupapa is Kanohi Kitea - to be seen, to come together, face to face. This will enable sharing of skills and knowledge, unpacking of histories and building towards collaboration and cultural awareness. For more information please contact Thomas Hinz at Circability Trust.

East Coast Aerial Dance Competition

Late entries are still open for the East Coast Aerial Dance Competition on the 4th September 2021. Check out their website here!: https://eastcoastaerial.crd.co/
