TRPA Gathering Input for
Housing and Climate Grant Application
The REAP 2.0 grant program, administered by the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), seeks to accelerate progress toward state housing goals and climate commitments through regional actions. As the MPO for the Tahoe region, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency is eligible to apply for approximately $600,000 in funding by December 31, 2022. Funding can be used for planning or implementation projects that advance regional housing and climate goals.
Find information about the program and ways to provide input at the top of the Tahoe Living Working Group page. The TRPA's Local Government and Housing Committee will review proposed project evaluation metrics at the September 28 TRPA Governing Board meeting. Meeting materials are posted one week prior to the meeting on the TRPA's webpage.
California Expands ADU Grant
The ADU grant provides up to $40,000 towards pre-development and non-reoccurring closing costs associated with the construction of the ADU. Predevelopment costs include site prep, architectural designs, permits, soil tests, impact fees, property survey, and energy reports. Homeowners with low- and moderate-incomes are eligible.
The City of South Lake Tahoe and Placer County have both passed ordinances allowing movable tiny homes this year. In the City of South Lake Tahoe they can be used as a new detached accessory dwelling unit, a new primary single-family residence, or a new multi-family residential development; and in Placer County as primary or accessory dwelling units and cottage home communities or co-housing. They must also follow TRPA requirements for Best Management Practices (BMPs), coverage, and other requirements for new residential development.
