40+ participants attended a webinar on methane – the main component of gas. Expert Bob Howarth shared his knowledge on the subject.

Disappointed you missed it? Don’t worry, we kindly recorded the webinar for you, which has already been watched over 100 times!

Gastivists will continue working on methane, in particular lobbying for fair and representative measurement systems (see the latest draft of the dual measurement proposal) - send an email to to stay in the loop.

Get your diaries out, there are some seriously good events coming up that you wouldn’t want to be missing. Contact for more details.

Global Gasdown / Global Frackdown on October 13th. We are calling out for an international day of action against gas this October, as part of Reclaim Power.

Projects of Common Interest (PCI)
We held our breath as the European Parliament voted on the “PCI list”, a list containing over 90+ gas projects. While the list was approved (booo!), an impressive 177 Members of Parliament (MEPs) objected to the list. This represents ¼ of the Parliament and MEPs from a range of political parties. Looks like our message is starting to get across!
Thank you to everyone who emailed or tweeted to their MEPs. If you want to follow up with your MEP or find out more about the next policy to look out for click here.

Southern Gas Corridor
The EU can’t seem to get enough of the “Southern Gas Corridor”, a mega gas pipeline linking Azerbaijan to Italy. The  European Investment Bank (EIB) has now approved a EUR 932 million loan to TANAP, the second leg of the mega gas pipeline.
The German Ministry of Finance will provide €1.2 billion loan to help Azerbaijan finance its part of the Southern Gas Corridor project. A further € 500 million credit guarantee is also in consideration.

The crazy idea to build a gas pipeline from Nigeria to Morocco is thankfully already facing widespread resistance. The “Not in our Interest” declaration was signed by over 40 groups and published this month, showing a coordinated and organised response against the pipeline.

The campaign against the Krk terminal in Croatia is up and running, with already two days of action and media attention. Find out more about the offshore LNG terminal and its resistance.

Local activists celebrated when the Spanish Supreme Court confirmed the cancelation of the proposed regasification plant in Granadilla, Tenerife. However, the plant’s future is still unclear as a new administrative authorisation request has been presented and is yet to be decided on.
In Catalonia, the Plataforma Resposta al Midcat emphasises that citizens have yet to be consulted on the STEP/MidCat project and that Enagas, the company pushing the project forward, keeps providing misinformation on the project’s route, impact and necessity.
