Kenya: Terms of Reference for Investigation of IFC Related to Bridge International Academies-04 Case
CAO initiated a compliance review of IFC concerning its investment in Bridge International Academies in response to child protection concerns at Bridge schools in Kenya. The terms of reference for the compliance investigation are now available. Learn more here.
India: Complaint Regarding IFC-supported Shapoorji Pallonji Project Referred to Compliance
This complaint has been referred to CAO’s Compliance function for appraisal of IFC in accordance with CAO’s Policy since the parties did not reach consensus on participating in a dispute resolution process. The assessment report is available in English, and case details are available here.
Egypt: Investigation Report Released Regarding IFC's Support for Titan Group
CAO has released a compliance investigation report of IFC, related to its investment in Titan Group, a cement manufacturing client in Egypt. The investigation report and IFC's response and Management Action Plan, are available here
Chile: Investigation Report Regarding  Alto Maipo Hydropower Project

Nigeria: Investigation Report Released Regarding IFC's Indorama Eleme Project
In September, CAO released an investigation of IFC's performance related to Indorama Eleme Fertilizer and Chemicals Ltd. in Nigeria. The report made compliance findings on IFC’s supervision of the environmental and social risks and impacts of the project. Find out more here.
Uzbekistan: Parties Release Joint Statement Regarding Progress Made via Mediation
Parties to the CAO dispute resolution process in Uzbekistan have released a joint statement outlining joint monitoring activities to verify the presence of forced labor in the company's cotton supply chain. The joint statement is available in English and Russian. Read the full details here.
Argentina: Labor Complaint Related to IFC-Supported Oil and Gas Production Project Referred to Compliance
CAO has concluded the assessment of a labor complaint regarding IFC's investment in Pan American Energy (PAE) in Argentina. Since the parties did not agree to engage in a voluntary dispute resolution process to address the concerns, the case has been referred to CAO's Compliance function for appraisal of IFC. The  18th Annual Meeting of the Annual Meeting of the Network of Independent Accountability Mechanisms
The 18th Annual Meeting of the Network of Independent Accountability Mechanisms (IAMnet) took place from Sept. 27 to 30. The events were organized with support from CAO—the current Chair of the IAMnet Secretariat, together with the host, the Complaints Mechanism of the European Investment Bank (EIB). Over 120 participants from 19 independent accountability mechanisms attended the four-day virtual event to share good practices and experiences related to remedy, reprisals, and operations during the COVID pandemic. The event included a roundtable with 50 civil society organizations from around the globe. 

Outreach to Civil Society Organizations in Turkey
CAO partnered with the IAMs of the World Bank, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to host a two-day outreach event to civil society groups in Turkey, Sept. 14 and 15. The event served to inform participants about the work of the IAMs and provide a safe space for dialogue about access to recourse and accountability. Partners for this event included three Turkish organizations – Argüden Governance Academy, Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV) and Transparency International Turkey.
