An Update from Commissioner Pat Wilson
We know that the last months have presented incredible and unprecedented challenges to our state, and our tourism industry has had much to grapple with as we face each day and plan for the future. Your strength throughout this crisis has been inspiring, and our team at Explore Georgia has been relentless in its advocacy and efforts to stand with you throughout this ordeal.
That’s why we are especially excited to share some very positive news with you that we announced late yesterday.
On behalf of the Georgia Department of Economic Development and Explore Georgia, it is my great pleasure to announce that our search for a new Deputy Commissioner to lead Explore Georgia has delivered us a recognized industry professional: Mark Jaronski.
Mark has an extensive background in tourism and hospitality, and is highly regarded across the industry. Currently, he is serving as CEO of Select Registry Distinguished Inns of North America, where he has led the organization since 2016. Under Mark’s leadership, the marketing association has achieved its highest website traffic and customer retention levels in the organization’s history.
I was impressed to talk with Mark about his variety of marketing roles during his 16 years at The Walt Disney Company in Florida. These positions included Manager of Disney Cruise Line Public Relations, Brand Manager of Walt Disney World theme parks, and Director of External Communications for Disney Parks Worldwide at the company’s headquarters in Burbank, California. He also came to us highly recommended by the U.S. Travel Association, where he served as former Chairman of the association’s Communications Committee.
Mark and his family reside in Greensboro, Georgia. He and his wife Nancy have been married for 23 years and have four children, ages 16 to 10. You can learn more about Mark here

We want you to know that we appreciate your patience while we took the time to find the right person to ensure we had the right fit for our collective needs. We believe that it has paid off in a big way. We also thank the Explore Georgia staff for their hard work and patience during this time of transition to a new Deputy Commissioner. They have worked diligently to make certain that we did not miss a beat.
We will be able to share more details and specifics about Mark’s start date soon. I look forward to the role that he and our amazing Explore Georgia team will play in working with our partners across the state to come out of this crisis strong.
Thank you for helping us welcome Mark to the team!
