He tūmatakahuki, he reo tukutuku!  Please be advised that the second Te Reo Tukutuku investment round will open at 12pm on Tuesday 18th of December and will close at 12pm on Wednesday 30th of January.

Tāwharautia te reo o Mātaatua! Te Mātāwai has contacted all successful applicants in the second Mātaatua investment round and is now progressing contracts. Please visit the Mātaatua webpage on the Te Mātāwai website for the list of successful applications in the first Mātaatua investment round.

Te Arawa waka kia mau ki tō reo tuku iho! Te Pae Motuhake ki Te Arawa completed their assessments and moderation of all applications submitted in the second investment round.  23 applications have been recommended for approval by the full Te Mātāwai board.

Ngā Kāhui ā-Iwi e toe ana: E mahi ana a Te Tai Hauāuru me Tainui i tēnei wā ki te whakatinana i ngā rauna haumitanga tuarua. 
The remaining two Kāhui ā-Iwi: Te Tai Hauāuru and Tainui are currently in the process of implementing round two investments.

Te Mātātupu: Te Rangahautanga

Te Mātātupu: Research

In September this year, the Te Mātāwai Board approved a Strategic Research Agenda and the Te Mātātupu work programme. This consisted of sixteen projects, the majority of which are to be procured and the remainder to be developed by the Te Mātātupu team to build the knowledge and evidence base to support te reo Māori revitalisation in whānau and communities.

On November 7, Te Mātātupu released Request for Proposals (RFP) for ten te reo Māori research projects in an open contestable process and round.  The total estimated value for these ten projects is $1.62m. The RFP round closed on 23 November 2018, with 19 proposals being received for the ten projects.

On December 6, Te Mātatupu convened a moderation and assessment panel to evaluate the 19 proposals according to their technical merit and the capability/capacity of the providers to deliver the research. The moderation panel consisted of Jonathan Kilgour, Research Manager, Ruakere Hond, Chair of the Research Subcommittee, Taasha Romana, Investment Manager, and Vyletta Arago-Kemp, Principal Analyst at Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori.  The panel have made their recommendations and have put these forward to the Tumu Whakarae, Te Atarangi Whiu, for the award of these projects to the successful applicant/s.  All applicants will receive notice of the outcome of these deliberations by 20 December 2018.

Te Mātāwai would like to welcome Mikaia Leach (Ngāti Konohi, Ngāti Ira, Ngāti Porou) to the whānau she started earlier this month as the Senior Research Analyst working in our Te Mātātupu team. Mikaia most recently worked at Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori in the research and policy areas and she has had experience working with other agencies on the Maihi Karauna.
