To all members of Wigtown and Bladnoch Community Initiative.
We have received some very exciting news about funding for the former Bank of Scotland building project and we need your help as a member of W&BCI to spread the news and drum up more support in the Community.
We will be setting up a stall outside of the former Bank of Scotland building on Saturday 24th November. It will be operational from 10am to 1pm. The aim is to hand out information sheets and speak to people about the plans for the former bank building and the funding that we have so far secured to bring those plans to fruition. In the event of inclement weather we will relocate to County Buildings.
We would very much like you to help on the day; handing out leaflets and encouraging people to sign up to the newsletter / become members of W&BCI. Some of the Board members will be present throughout to deal with any in depth questions that you or anyone else might have. If you can spare an hour or two (you don't have to be there the full 3 hours, please email back to email@example.com or call Matt on 07981925629.
We will be inviting the local press and media along because we will be announcing some exciting funding news, so having a good range of support would greatly help us to publicise what we are trying to achieve.
The following funding news is for members of Wigtown and Bladnoch CI only (please do NOT pass this information on until next Saturday) as it is currently embargoed by the relevant funders, but this is what we will be announcing on the 24th:
Scottish Land Fund Grant Confirmed
The Scottish Land Fund has approved our grant request for 95% of the purchase price of the old Bank of Scotland building. This is a major step forward and now work is underway to secure funding for the 5% balance which means raising £6,000.
SSE Sustainable Development Fund Grant Confirmed
We had asked for £80,000 capital and £10,000 revenue funding and they have agreed to give us the £80,000 capital funding for the bunkhouse development.
Town Centre Living Fund Application Success
D&G Council's Communities Committee were pleased to announce that WBCI has been awarded £60,000 from the Town Centre Living Fund to support the work necessary to convert the three bedroom flat and single bedroom ground floor apartment.
