Dear AUI faculty, students, staff, and valuable partners,
After nine years of AUI Community hard work, continuous efforts and rigorous processes, Al Akhawayn University has moved another step forward to become a leading university in Africa and to assure its institutional quality and recognition by one of the most reputable international higher education commissions, NEASC.
The University hosted last March a team of eight high-level peer reviewers from different universities from the U.S., who were here to examine Al Akhawayn University’s programs and processes against the nine standards of NEASC institutional quality.
Following the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges executive meeting, AUI has been awarded initial accreditation for 5 years and become only the 2nd accredited institution in Africa by an American Agency and the 1st non-American university in the Continent to get such recognition.
This accreditation is the culmination of AUI stakeholders’ efforts to enhance the quality of Al Akhawayn programs and its overall offerings, and is the external recognition of its alignment with international standards as applied in the American accreditation system.
AUI will soon be celebrating, with different stakeholders including the AUI Board of trustees, students, faculty, administrators, and staff the continuous hard work of its community towards this new level of excellence, and organize a study day about the role of quality assurance in higher education.
I would like to thank all those who contributed to this great achievement and invite you all to celebrate as we move toward a new level of excellence, with its own challenges and rewards.
With best regards,
