JOIN ME THIS JULY

WORDS FROM THE REDWOODS
SATURDAY JULY 20TH 7 PM

Central and Bay Area California friends: You're invited to the Boulder Creek United Methodist Church for an exciting evening of poetry, prose, and special music. I'll be reading from my new book, Home By Another Road. Other featured readers include Redwood City writer Carol L. Park, and Jade Bradbury, author of the chapbook In the Willing Dirt. Santa Cruz musician Laura Devine Burnett will open the program on her dulcimer.

I'll be selling my two books of poetry, with all proceeds benefitting the church's outreach to children and youth.

Join us at 12855 Boulder St., Boulder Creek, CA, and invite your friends.

Featuring:

Cathy Warner

Cathy Warner has authored two books of poetry Home by Another Road, and Burnt Offerings. Her fiction, memoir, and essays have appeared in dozens of publications. She is recipient of the Steinbeck and SuRaa fiction awards and nominee for the Pushcart Prize and Best American Essays. Former pastor of Boulder Creek United Methodist Church (2003-2010), Cathy now lives in the Puget Sound region where she writes, teaches, edits, renovates homes, and sells real estate.

Carol L. Park

Carol Park’s homes range from the San Francisco suburbs, to California wilderness, to cultural mazes of Japan. While teaching and befriending English learners from far places, she’s learned how little she knows and how precious is the meeting of minds over tea. Her poetry and fiction appear in a variety of publications including SLANT, Minerva, Black Fox and Cordoba, and also within India in university’s journal. She’s revising a novel set in Tokyo. She often reads at the San Jose Flash Fiction Forum and other local venues.

Jade Bradbury

Jade Bradbury has lived in California 45 years, ten of them in Los Angeles, working in Hollywood, National Press Service, and Los Angeles Times; the remainder in the South Bay where she served on the Los Gatos Arts Commission. Jade’s been published in poetry anthologies and journals, presented at regional festivals/events, KKUP radio, and the Flash Fiction Forum in San Jose.

Her chapbook, In the Willing Dirt, is forthcoming from Purple Passion Press.

Laura Devine Burnett

Vocalist and dulcimer player Laura Devine Burnett enjoys a variety of musical styles including jazz, folk, gospel, and pop. Former Choir Director at the Boulder Creek United Methodist Church, she is featured in the documentary Hearts of the Dulcimer, and performs widely in the Santa Cruz area with her husband, guitarist Bob Burnett.
