Dear Friends of EKSS,

We've had a fantastic first month back, with a lot of great activities and events in the planning, as well as all of the fun and spontaneity that makes EKSS what it is.

Last month's proposals brought to school meeting include a Halloween party, regular swimming trips, a daily tea time for students, a clay workshop and plenty more. One of the more quirky new enterprises is the interestingly named "writing and testing club", whose purpose it is to write and evaluate one another's stories in order to put the best together in our first ever published anthology!

It is exciting to see so many student led enterprises coming together so soon into the new term. It is also a delight to witness the community coming together again after the summer break, to see friendships strengthened, new students welcomed and students overcoming challenges and working together toward common goals. This is what life at EKSS is all about.

EKSS in the News

This month we are delighted to appear in three feature articles in different publications! In print already are this month's Green Parent and the Margate Mercury.

Green Parent Magazine asked us how we create a sense of community and tackle bullying. We describe how democracy is central to community, empowering students to create and manage their own community.

In the Margate Mercury, reporter Naomi Fisher explores some of the exciting ways that EKSS differs from traditional settings, and invites readers to rethink their understanding of what a school should be.

Keep your eyes peeled for another feature article about our sponsored beach clean in the Thanet CommunityAd Magazine later this month!
