Zimbabwe Currency Changes

Coming into effect on 24 Jun 19, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has made the Zimbabwean dollar the sole currency for legal tender purposes.  With specific reference to the tourism industry, our understanding is that all dealings with foreign tourists will continue to be viewed as ‘export transactions’ and as such, the use of foreign currency and foreign cards by guests will remain permissible.  The revised regulations appear to affect local trade only.  Foreign guests are however, strongly encouraged to pre-book and settle as much of their meals and activities prior to travel.  We will continue to monitor these changes and share details as and when we receive them.
