Shlammal the Mammal!
Hey <<First Name>>,
Sorry about the headline up there. I just have a big problem when we Bills’ Fans say “Squish the Fish.” As every third grader worth the cost of his Charter School knows, Dolphins aren’t fish. They are mammals. Then again, there really aren’t many violence-describing words that rhyme with “mammals.”
Technically, there is a fish called a dolphinfish but it is big and flat...like Don Shula’s EKG (Too soon? Too late?)... and it is actually served in restaurants (probably even at a Shula’s near you). Of course, no one would eat it if it was called Dolphin, so it has been renamed Mahi-Mahi.
The Miami Mahi-Mahi hardly strikes fear...oh wait, neither does Dolphin...
(Tune in next week when we discuss the New Orleans Pelicans and the Sandusky Soft Squishy Socks.)
(And speaking of Sports People with restaurants, I went to a Joe Theismann’s up in D.C. recently and ordered the Leg of Lamb. When I got it, it was broken.)
So the Bills are heading to So. Fla for their first away game of 2020. Miami is allowing a minimal number of fans into Hard Rock Stadium. So since Miami folks can’t be bothered, I would image that 80% of those folks will be Bills fans... thus giving Coach McDermott that home-field advantage he is always complaining about.
Our home field this week for viewing the game is Firefly over on E. Market St.. There will be good beers, full bar, wing specials, and a brunch menu. Game time is 1 PM. Kitchen will close at 3 PM but, importantly the bar will serve until the end of the game.
The important thing is that YOU MUST RSVP to attend. Firefly has capped it’s indoor limit to 30 people (wearing masks and practicing social distancing.. and pants. For the love of god, please wear pants!!!).
Thus far these 16 folks said they are definitely going:
Brian L., Kathleen Q., Denyall F., Sharon V.O. (+1), Jordan S., Brad T., Brenda B., JaVan C., Bob S., Brian A., Renee B., Tim C., Eric H., T.A., Roger V.
These 5 folks have said they are interested:
Jeremy S., Anne D., Laurie S., Kevin E., Sharon-Kathleen C.
As you can see that is 21 folks... and the 3rd time I used the word “folks.” (Crap. That’s 4 now.)
If you are intending to bring a spouse, significant other, friends, sacrificial Dolfan...please indicate either in the comments of the post of Facebook or in the RSVP form on the website.
RSVP’ing will close at Noon (EDT) sharp on Saturday, September 19th.
Those of you who have listed as “interested” need to decide by then and change your pick to “going,” please. I am “interested” in being a Rockette but until I tryout, it ain’t gonna happen.
Aside from the limit set by Firefly, we just want to be helpful in letting them know how many folks to staff etc.
Don’t despair though if you forget. Boylan Heights will also be showing the game upstairs! (Don Shula will be watching the game from upstairs but in a different location.)
