Fallidays and Fitness

Fall is my favorite time of the year. It's got me saying see you later summer and giving my festive greetings to Fall!! It’s the opening act of ALL the holiday fun to come! The intensity of summer’s heat just starts to give way to the cool days ahead. The leaves on the trees hint of yellow. The pumpkins, sweaters and boots come out. Football season. CANDYYYYY!!!! Do we get blankies and snuggles too? Working out might be one of the last things on my mind...

For reals though.

Do you feel that way too? Just know, that’s totally okay and you are normal. Who doesn’t want all that goodness?! I know I do!! :) It’s okay to take some time to rest and not feel guilty about it. Our bodies need it from time to time.

Resting is just as important as working out because it’s an equal part of the process in building strength, endurance, muscle and burning fat. Sometimes we need to just curl up and chill out to renew and recharge.

We push ourselves in all that we do both in and outside of the studio. You are a truly amazing group of women. We have busy lives pulling us in every direction and we don’t always have enough time for them all (let alone ourselves!) because above all our families come first.
We work hard to be fit in order to live a long, healthy life for ourselves and our families. Leading by example, we tutor healthy lifestyles into our families which in turn inspires the next generations. Fitness helps keep our heads happy just as much as our hearts. It helps us give our families and every day responsibilities our very best. We use that understanding of 'we’re all in this together' to help motivate and inspire each other.

You all inspire me every day and I adore working with each and every one of you. Thank you for spending your summer sweating with me!

Now Remember that part where I said CANDY!! Check out my trail mix recipe below for a tasty treat to help you kick that sweet treat craving's tail feathers.
 

 

Sweet and Salty Trail Mix

3 cups nuts
1/8 cup butterscotch chips
1/8 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/8 – 1/4 cup dried cherries (or cranberries, raisins, whatever you like)

 

 
Shake it up and a serving size is ¼ cup. SO good!! The butterscotch is so sweet and pairs so nicely with the saltiness. It really helps curb those late afternoon cravings as well as give you some of those fall flavors you’re craving. Try it as your afternoon snack with a piece of fruit for a boost of energy and to keep you sustained until supper.

For the nuts, I like to go with ½-1 cup each of a variety of my favorites. I typically only use one nut that is roasted and salted. Usually sunflower seeds. Otherwise the trail mix is too salty. I love almonds (sliced, whole, whatever floats your boat) walnuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, peanuts, honestly any kind of nuts you like or have around.
