Our three new interns
Once again, EXIST has interns from Copenhagen University College. They focus on three areas:
- Research and knowledge about human trafficking in general and specifically in Denmark and Nigeria
- “Hands-on” experience via Night Light Café (currently closed due to restrictions)
- Information and communication via our website and social media.
“My name is Nikolaj, and I am an intern at EXIST. I am 24 years old and studying for a bachelor's degree in Disaster and Risk Management. Before I started on my degree, I was in the military service at the Danish Emergency Management Agency, where I, among others, trained to be a firefighter, rescue specialist and technical supervisor. Being able to help make a difference has always been in my interest. I feel I am at my best when I can think creatively and innovatively. I feel most comfortable when I can assist in starting up projects, streamline them, and have artistic freedom. This is precisely the reason why I am an intern at EXIST, as I see EXIST as a great opportunity to further develop my competences”.
“My name is Lise, and I am 31 years old and trained as a healthcare social worker. Furthermore, I have been in the Royal Life Guards and lived in New Zealand. I am currently enrolled at the Disaster and Risk Management bachelor, where I am doing my 4th-semester internship. I chose to do my internship at EXIST because there is an opportunity for "hands-on" tasks with people and to meet the people that the organisation works with to give hope in life. Also, there are plenty of opportunities to create projects that can be used in real life, and that you are not just one of many employees, but they hear what you have to say”.
“My name is Thor. The reason I chose to do my internship at EXIST is because you can make a real difference in an important cause! At EXIST, I also have the opportunity to work closely with day-to-day management and my two fellow students. This combination gives me the best framework to apply my knowledge from the curriculum in practice. Your voice gets heard, and together I feel that we strengthen EXIST in their important work against human trafficking!”.
