If you are not a friend of CCAC member, Bob Guiliani, like him on Facebook. He has been doing a picture a day from his home. The pictures are beautiful. Thank you Bob for a positive moment in the day.

I received this letter about Connecting with Artist from Chris Sherman. I do not know anything about this, but thought I would pass it along.

Good morning, Carol

I'm with the Artists Sunday alliance and I'm reaching out to see if we can work together to help artists in Clare County.

We're inviting artists, local arts agencies, cities, chambers, state agencies, and non-profit organizations across the country to come together to encourage consumers to shop with artists and craftsmen. Participation is free.

Artists Sunday is an art-focused shopping day the first Sunday after Thanksgiving. It follows Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, the day before Cyber Monday, the largest shopping weekend of the year. Details can be found at .

I hope you can join us in sharing this with artists and community members now and promoting this fall. Please consider joining us as a partner or let me know if you'd like to schedule a phone call or if I can answer questions by email.

Art Walk Central is currently doing Artist Registration until Monday June 1, 2010. Cost is $35 for artist 19 and up. $10 for artist 13-18. The deadline to apply for a scholarship is May 15. Head to their website to register at

Several people have asked for the Quilt Block Trail Guide. It is a great way to get out and see Clare County and view the Quilt Blocks. This is a self-guided tour. I would be happy to mail you a brochure, just let me know at or 989.386.3925. Have you considered having a quilt block on your house or building? CCAC is still taking applications for quilt blocks.

Stay Positive.

Understanding Your Digital SLR CameraComing soon image
This will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
Cost $65

Having trouble knowing what many of those buttons and dials on your camera are for and how to use them? Easy to happen because of all the “stuff” camera manufacturers keep adding to their cameras so to entice you to purchase their cameras. This 3-week class is designed to help make sense of much of what is offered on your camera.

Some of the topics to be covered: shutter speeds, f/stops, controlling motion, what’s in focus, understanding your camera meter, composition,
exposure compensation, and how, why, and when to adjust the ISO. Fun easy photo assignments will be given and critiqued. Participants will receive an 8x10 print of their favorite image taken during the class.

To complete the assignments you will need your own camera for this class, the camera should be digital. The instructor is long time award winning professional photographer, Bob Guiliani. He and his wife, Linda, own Guys & Dolls Photography in Clare. To register or if you have questions, please contact Bob at 989.240.3644. The class is offered by the Clare County Arts Council and will be held at the Clare Union Depot located on 4th Street in Clare.

More Shoot Get Creative Part 2

If you missed the first class, you have another opportunity to learn methods to improve your phone photography and create some awesome art images from your photos. Today’sphone cameras make it easy to record the scenes and actions in front of us.

Now that you’ve pushed that button, what’s next? During this two hour seminar Bob will discuss techniques to improve your phone photography. He will also demonstrate various apps that add enhancements and creativity to your images. Participants should bring their phone cameras so to try many of the examples Bob will show.

Participants in the first class enjoyed and learned much, and asked for another class.
Don’t miss this one!
