PAA Studio Tour

Peninsula art studios on full display

The PAA Studio Tour is one of our favorite annual events because it highlights so many wonderful Long Beach Peninsula artists and communities. The Port of Ilwaco, with three featured artists and numerous restaurants, is the perfect place to begin or end the day.

And remember that we'll have specially priced original Marie Powell and Susan Spence artwork available during the Studio Tour.

NEW in the Gallery

David Campiche pottery

David Campiche's beautiful pottery is a recent addition to the gallery. Featuring luscious colors and textures, David's work speaks to the natural, rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

New hours later this month

After Thanksgiving weekend, the gallery will only be open Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. And the gallery will be closed between January and March while Randy and I are in New Zealand.

That said, arrangements can be made to open the gallery by appointment while we're away. Reach the gallery at (360) 244-0800 to make an appointment.

Susan Spence at the helm

Beach Basket artist Susan Spence will be running the gallery after Thanksgiving and to the New Year. Her artwork has been turning heads for some time now. Stop by and say hi if you're in the neighborhood.

Happy (belated) Veterans' Day

Here's Airman First Class Randy Powell serving in the U.S. Air Force, 1951-55. We'd like to thank all the veterans out there, and we hope you were able to make the most of your special day.

Another Happy Customer

Chris Winson sent us images of two Marie Powell originals recently fitted with beautiful new frames. One piece is for a friend and the second "is staying home with me", Chris said.

Do you have an original Marie Powell piece taking pride of place in your home? Send a photo to marie@marie-powell.com. We'll feature it on Facebook and maybe in an e-news!

Dine for a cause

Restaurant Month returns to the Long Beach Peninsula on Jan. 1. Experience delicious three-course meals for just $33 at some of the peninsula's best restaurants while supporting the local Boys & Girls Club. Read more about the event in this piece from the local Visitors Bureau.

2019 Free Park Days

Anyone who knows Randy and me knows we love our local state parks. And we think you will too! Visit Washington state parks for free on the dates above, but you'll want to buy a Discover Pass so you can return whenever you like!

Featured Art: 'Tree-Water Connection' series

This trio of "Tree-Water Connection" pieces was made for the recent "Spirits of the Ancients" exhibit at RiverSea Gallery in Astoria, Oregon, where they can still be seen. The show, which wrapped up in early November, honored the spiritual aspects of old-growth Pacific Northwest forests.

Printed from a cedar board, the natural wood grain enhances a waterscape quality that emerged after several layers of color.

My two large mixed media canvases, “Rings of Ancients”, have a lovely new home in Chelan, Washington. These were part of the October “Spirits of the Ancients” exhibition at RiverSea Gallery in Astoria, Oregon.
