Year in Review

2018's 12 most-popular Facebook images

Looking back on a wonderful year

What. A. Year.

First and foremost, I want to thank each and every person who's supported the gallery over the past year. Whether you visited us at the Port of Ilwaco or 'Liked' the Facebook page or even subscribed to this e-newsletter, thank you for supporting local art and local artists! It truly means the world to me.

We invite you to take a moment and reflect on 2018 with us.

Below are twelve of our (and your) favorite photos from 2018. We've selected the twelve most popular images from our Facebook page over the past year. So, without further ado, let's take a stroll down memory lane!

No. 12: 'Crows at Sunset' sold

Posted Aug. 18, 2018

Randy with me presenting an original monotype, “Crows at Sunset”, to a client visiting from the East Coast. This beautiful piece of art found a new home in New York City.

No. 11: Printapalooza in NZ

Posted March 3, 2018
Printapalooza is a big annual event put on by the TeKowhai Print Trust Studio where I work in Whangarei, New Zealand. The event features spectacular wood carvings and even a steamroller used to print.

No. 10: Ravens

Posted Nov. 16, 2018
This artist proof of "Ravens" is a newer work I created at the Port of Ilwaco.

No. 9: Happy July 4th (Summer Sunflowers)

Posted July 4, 2018
My piece "Summer Sunflowers" seemed perfect for a Happy Fourth of July post. "Summer Sunflowers" had been showing at Scott Milo Gallery in Anacortes, WA before it sold. Another sunflower piece, "Garden Sunflowers", is still available and can be seen at Marie Powell Gallery.

No. 8: Inking at Printapalooza

Posted March 4, 2018
This printmaking event in Whangarei, New Zealand proved popular on Facebook! Pictured is Hamish, a TeKowhai Print Trust printmaking technician, inking up a huge woodblock carving. It was eventually printed using a steamroller.

No. 7: Happy Tulips

Posted Jan. 5, 2018
I created this piece, Happy Tulips, while in New Zealand last winter.

No. 6: Festival of Kites

Posted Jan. 16, 2018
Although crafted in New Zealand, my "Festival of Kites" pieces were inspired by the annual Washington State International Kite Festival held annually in Long Beach, WA. The colorful and vibrant abstract designs are reminiscent of the myriad kites that take to the air during the festival.

No. 5: Happy Customers

Posted Aug. 19, 2018
I so enjoy seeing photos of happy clients next to my art. Their smiles make me smile. Sometimes I'm able to snap a photo in the gallery, and other times someone will send me a photo of the artwork in its new home. This is always a treat. You can email a photo of one of my original pieces in your home to

No. 4: Humpback Whale II (sold)

Posted March 3, 2018
Inspired by whale sightings in the Columbia River near the Oregon-Washington coast, I created several Humpback Whale pieces in early 2018. This one features a white background and was done with a 2-color rainbow roll. Two Humpback Whale pieces have sold, but one more remains available.

No. 3: Festival of Kites

Posted Feb. 3, 2018
Here's another hand-pulled monoprint from my "Festival of Kites" series. Much like the annual Kite Festival, this series of pieces proved very popular!

No. 2: Trillium Row

Posted Aug. 11, 2018
"Trillium Row" is a 6-color linoleum block reduction original print I created over the summer in an edition size of 22 hand-pulled images. This piece is still available.

No. 1: Humpback Whale I

Posted Feb. 25, 2018
2018's most popular image on Facebook was of "Humpback Whale I", my lone remaining humpback whale piece in the gallery. The dynamic and powerful humpback whales seen off the Pacific Northwest coast are truly awe-inspiring -- and art-inspiring.
