Adjusting our operations and continuing to provide child protection services to the children we care for amidst Covid-19 pandemic were enabled by the exemplary devotion and professionalism of our shelter staff.
They have done an amazing job being at the frontline with self-sacrifice, fully implementing relevant protection measures and maintaining children's physical and mental wellbeing.
67 civil society organizations, among them The HOME Project, sent a joint letter to European governments calling for the urgent relocation of unaccompanied children from Greece.

Pavlina Voulgaraki sang live from her Instagram account for our Little Pugad shelter. We are grateful for an amazing online musical celebration engaging more than 300 people. Her songs proved how music united us all, independently of religion, race, ethnicity.

Our children continue preparing themselves for their entrance exams at the Elementary School of HAEF Athens College - Psychico College via online lessons within the context of our educational partnership and the kind support of The Shapiro Foundation.
Within the context of respecting COVID-19 protection measures while maintaining our child protection model, we make sure that children continue receiving their education online every Saturday attending the Youth to Youth program in collaboration with ACS Athens (American Community Schools).

What can be more heartwarming than a child reunited with his mother? Our legal team in collaboration with Equal Rights Beyond Borders successfully carried out the case of F., who will be soon reunited with her mother in Germany. F., who currently stays in one of our shelters, has seen her case multiple times unlawfully rejected. As a consequence, the decision was challenged at a court in Germany and the family reunification request has finally been accepted. It took one year and a half, but our legal team did not give up.

"We wish to give back to the community that is hosting to show our gratitude to Greece and this city". With the help of a tiny sewing machine and few pieces of fabric, L., S. and M. created masks for the protection of the most vulnerable groups in the city who live exposed to the virus.
The masks, with the initiative of Konstantinos Dedes, President of Technopolis City of Athens, were donated to the Municipality of Athens.
We are proud of them and the lesson they give to all of us, on what solidarity is about.

We welcomed a new member in our community in the Pugad shelter. S., 17 years old girl was underage when she arrived pregnant in our shelter. During Easter break she gave birth to a healthy baby boy. We are looking forward to being next to him for his first steps.

A big thank you to Germany’ s ARD Mediathek channel for a great filming day and for their interest in our child protection work and in the story of relocation of unaccompanied refugee children from Greece to Germany.
