Around the Alaska Conference
Mid-Month Round-up | May 2020
Day of Prayer
On Friday, May 15, 2020 from 6-7 pm, Alaskans across our great state will join together in an Alaska Day of Prayer via Facebook Live.  This is our opportunity to turn to God corporately throughout the conference. As God’s children, we will unitedly pray for Divine intervention and protection. Through prayer we find the strength to advance God’s kingdom, to feed the hungry, care for the poor, comfort the afflicted, make peace where there is strife and for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. There is power in prayer!  You are invited to join our Alaska Conference officers and pastors praying via Facebook Live for our families, churches, and communities. Pray with your family around the living room; pray with your friends by phone; pray with your church members.  Go to Facebook, find the search icon and type Alaska Conference of SDA.  Be sure to “follow” us so this will automatically notify you of other “live” events.

Treasury Update
April tithe was down -31.1% for the month, however in April 2019 we received $112,000 of windfall tithe or Tithe Blessing.  Based on this, our adjusted tithe for the month of April was down -7.6%.  Overall, year-to-date tithe is down -10.6% with  adjusted year-to-date tithe down -1.7%.   We are grateful for each member's faithfulness, especially during these tough times.  May God continue to bless you not only financially, but as you are His hands and feet in your community to those who need care and hope for the future.

18th Alaska Conference Constituency
On Monday, April 20, the Alaska Conference Executive Committee met to discuss the concerns and effects of the COVID-19 crisis.   With the uncertainty about travel and gatherings, it was decided to hold a virtual camp meeting July 21-25, 2020 in lieu of traditional camp meetings around the state.   Because of that action, the Executive Committee also voted to move the constituency session from July 26 to Sunday, September 20, 2020.  The session will be held at the Hillside O’Malley Seventh-day Adventist Church at 6000 O’Malley Road in Anchorage.  The moving of the constituency session date necessitated the rescheduling of dates that had been set for the Organizing and Nominating Committees to meet.  The new dates for those committees are: Organizing Committee June 7 and Nominating Committee August 23.

Pioneer Peak Fundraising
Thank you to all who have financially supported the renovation of the Pioneer Peak auditorium.  Because of you, $23,924.33 towards the $60,000 goal has been raised.  We still need your help to reach our goal!  Due to the pandemic, construction has been postponed until fall, however fundraising efforts continue! Your support in the coming months is greatly appreciated as construction is scheduled for the fall, funding permitting.  To make a donation, click here.

2020 Camp Meeting
Plans are underway to bring the first virtual statewide Alaska camp meeting to you this summer!  We have a dynamic slate of speakers scheduled and are partnering with the Oregon conference to offer quality children's programming.   As this is a new endeavor for us here at the conference, plans are changing daily.  We will be sharing information through Facebook, email and on the conference website as details are confirmed.
What about my 2020 site reservation?  This year's site reservation will be used to fill requests for the 2021 camp meeting in Palmer in the order received.  If you have prepaid, funds will be applied to next year or you can request a refund through the treasury department.  If you will not be attending next year, please let us know by calling the office at 346-1004 x1000 or email alaskainfo@ac.npuc.org.
Are you a musician interested in participating in virtual camp meeting?  If so, please email brenda.johnson@ac.npuc.org.

Use of ACS End-of-Year Matching Funds
This summer, Arctic Mission Adventure (AMA) was geared up to conduct village day camps, vacation Bible school (VBS) programs and send kids out of the village to one of our resident camps.  These programs were a direct result of the 2019 end-of-year Adventist Community Services (ACS) match campaign that was successful because of our generous supporters.  However, as a result of the state and tribal COVID-19 no-travel mandates, AMA has postponed these events in our villages.  We have committed the designated ACS funds to be spent for village camps and VBS programs to be held in the summer of 2021.  Thank you again to all who supported this fundraising effort! Please do not hesitate to contact Tandi Perkins, Director of Development at (907) 346-1004 ext. 1020 if you have any questions.
