Theatre Summit Tomorrow - Fingers Crossed!

We are planning to go ahead with our Theatre Industry Summit tomorrow morning as scheduled. If the forecast holds, it should be windy and rainy tomorrow morning but the roads should be passable. If things change and we need to cancel, we will let you know via the Facebook event page, CBC Stormwatch and an email to this distribution list.

The Theatre Industry Summit is March 14 at the Haviland Club from 8:45 to 12:30. It is open to all participants in the Theatre Industry on PEI. No need to register but it would great if you could let us know if you plan to come on our Facebook event page.

Art in the Open Call for Submissions

Art in the Open is inviting local, regional and national artists to submit their artistic proposals for the annual summer festival. The festival’s main event will take place from 4pm until midnight on August 25th, 2018. The festival is looking for unique submissions that will transform downtown Charlottetown’s green spaces into magical, memorable, creative spaces that will be shared by all members of the community.

If you are thinking of submitting to Art in the Open or would like to learn more about writing effective proposals, there will be a free Proposal Writing Workshop on Monday, March 19 from 7 to 9 PM at the Confederation Centre's Studio One. You can find out more information on the Facebook event page.

Film Producers' Workshop

PEI Screenwriters’ Bootcamp has been running on PEI for twelve years. New this year is Road to Production, a workshop for producer/writer teams who have a project in development. At least one participant has to be a PEI resident. Workshops run May 19 to 24. For more information, visit the PEI Screenwriters’ Bootcamp website.

Creative Industries Code of Conduct

Organizations representing a wide range of Canadian creative industries have come together to create the Canadian Creative Industries Code of Conduct. It is an excellent starting point for ensuring safe and respectful workplaces and an industry free of harassment including sexual harassment, discrimination, bullying and violence. CreativePEI encourages all PEI creative industry organizations and businesses to develop their own codes of conduct based on the principles in this document.

Culture Sector Growing on PEI

According to the latest figures from Statistics Canada, Prince Edward Island's culture GDP rose 2.0% in 2016. The audio-visual and interactive media domain (+5.7%) contributed most to the growth in culture GDP in the province. Culture jobs were up 8.5% to 1,694 in 2016.
