Prince Edward Island's creative sector currently lacks a sector-wide strategy to capitalize on the digital transformation of our economy and society.
Canada Council for the Arts' Digital Strategy Fund aims to advance the digital transformation of Canada's arts sector by helping arts groups, collectives and organizations build digital capacity, transform business models and operations, and develop projects that leverage digital technology to address sectoral and digital challenges.
In March of 2021, CreativePEI, with support from this fund, began consulting with key PEI arts and culture organizations to determine the sector's needs in relation to the development of a new province-wide digital strategy.
It was determined through these consultations that a media-rich artist portfolio directory would be a feasible and impactful project which would greatly enhance the online discoverability of Island artists and businesses to both local and off-island audiences, and could raise awareness of PEI as a welcoming place for artists to live and work.
The next step in this project is to create a proof of concept that demonstrates the portal’s potential functionality. We look forward to sharing more updates in regards to this project as they become available.
