FIRST ANNUAL Hodgson MS/Davisville PS ECO CLUBS CO-HOSTED WINTER
BAG2SCHOOL / CLOTHING SWAP EXTRAVAGANZA WRAP:

Congratulations to the Eco clubs from Hodgson and Davisville and all participating students and families in our community. From November 21-December 6 2018 we diverted about 2500 lbs of textiles from the landfill.

The classes were grouped into sister class teams to compete for the most donations (donations weighed by the Hodgson Eco Club) and the winning class team brought in 370 lbs of donated clothes

(they blew the top off the chart) The classes (Hodgson 7C, & Davisville's M. Kule and Ms. Chang) will all get a pizza lunch as a prize, timing to be arranged by eco club teachers.

To see more details and some photos please see the attached poster. Thanks to all the teachers, staff, administrators, students and parent volunteers who made this such a success for our community!

CBC CANADIAN MUSIC CHALLENGE
CBC runs a Canadian Music Class challenge contest every year. Music teachers pick from a list of popular/classic Canadian songs that the CBC provides and prepares a class/classes to make a video recording for their youtube channel. Judges choose winning schools in various age categories and the winners receive a monetary prize towards their music programs!

This year Avi Shragge participated for the first time with the grade 6 FI class. Here's the link to the video recording.  Best of luck to the group - the work is amazing!!

HOLIDAY MAIL
Every year around this time staff and students create a "village" within the school and a system to receive holiday mail - it's a time where students develop and refine their letter writing skills by sending letters and cards to various students and staff throughout the school building.  Each hallway is given a designated street name (e.g. the Office Hallway is Star Avenue) and each room (sometimes staff member) is given a number (generally corresponds with classroom number).  In the Holiday Mail program, our school is known as Davisville Village and our postal code is J0Y 1C1

Holiday Mail will be running from Dec. 10th through the 21st!

DRAGON POINTS
Dragon Points is beginning Monday Dec. 10th. This is a positive reinforcement model being employed to promote our core school rules which include Walking Quietly and Safely, Treating Others with Kindness, Responding Politely with Adults, Caring for our Shared Spaces, Playing and Travelling safely.  Please see the poster at the bottom of this email!
