Volume 15, Number 2
Welcome to Tara

Dr Tara Garrard has joined the SARDI Cereal Pathology group this month. Previously she was working with Alan Mckay on Rhizoctonia where she demonstrated her impressive set of skills and enthusiasm for crop pathology.  She will be involved in all aspects of our work on cereal fungal diseases working with Hugh Wallwork and Marg Evans and so you will be seeing a lot of her in future.
Request for cereal samples

In this dry season we are seeking your help with our monitoring of cereal pathogens and would appreciate reports and samples of affected paddocks. In particular we would like samples of net form net blotch and scald in barley, septoria in wheat and red leather leaf in oats. Please send samples dry and not in plastic.
  Pulse & canola samples

Similarly we also request pulse disease samples, in particular ascochyta from lentil, chickpea and faba beans, as well as sclerotinia from any pulse crop and canola, should any of these diseases occur. Please include cultivar, as well as location of the crop, along with contact details.
Your feedback is welcome
