Indulge in Provincetown All Month Long...

November in Provincetown is a warm reminder of the Town’s special place in history. As the first place the pilgrims landed upon reaching the New World, Thanksgiving holds an additional historical feel on top of its family-oriented festive spirit.

Thanksgiving in Provincetown is host to a number of celebratory events. First is the Lighting of the Pilgrim Monument on Wednesday, November 27th, which celebrates the Pilgrims’ First Landing in the New World in Provincetown on November 11, 1620, and is one of Cape Cod’s most beautiful traditions. The event runs from 5 - 7 pm and will include light refreshments and entertainment.

On Thanksgiving Day, the Annual Pilgrim 5K Trot begins at 9 a.m. There is a $100 cash prize for the male and female winner and all other proceeds will go to Helping Our Women, an organization for women coping with life-impacting health issues in our local communities.

Mr. New England Leather

Mr. New England Leather will be held from the 22nd through the 24th this year. In addition to the competition and the following Victory Celebration, the weekend is full of opportunities to socialize and show off your gear.

Finally, this year will be the 15th Annual Lighting of the Lobster Pot Tree, a Provincetown tradition that rings in the holiday season. It will be held on Saturday, November 30th at 5:30 p.m. In 2004, artist Julian Popko created this holiday celebration in recognition of the hard-working local lobstermen. The lighting of the “tree,” made of real lobster traps, has become a beloved tradition. Come and enjoy hot cocoa and cookies as the thousands of lights are illuminated.

Veteran’s Day (November 11), which lands on a Monday, gives visitors a perfect fall three-day weekend. Restaurants, guest houses, and shops will cater to guests with a warm welcome.
