Events For Women,
By Women

Provincetown has always been about inclusivity: for expressive artists, for immigrants and international cultures, and for all genders and sexualities. Provincetown takes inclusivity one step further from acceptance to celebration. The year is full of events dedicated to the rich diversity of the Town and ensures that this includes recognition for the valued role of women in the community.
Girl Splash, from Tuesday, July 23rd - Saturday, July 27th, is the summer celebration for women packed with parties, performers, and events all week long. There are comedy shows every day, from prominent performers such as Vicki Shaw and Suzanne Westenhoefer. Musical acts from the likes of Lucy Arnaz, Lillias White, and Yoli Mayor bring live music to each day’s agenda. Some performers, such as Julie Wheeler, will combine both comedy and music for a night of quirky entertainment that has been called “the total package.”
If live performances aren’t your thing, there are plenty of other options to make this week a special vacation. Every day features a special lesbian beach outing at Herring Cove Beach where you can relax and enjoy Provincetown’s seaside beauty. There are parties of all sorts, like the Girl Splash pool party, a speakeasy with Zoe Lewis and the Bootleggers, and a Pride party. Whale watching, dune tours, sailing, bingo, and more ensure that this week has something for everyone.
The next female-focused event is the 13th annual IWFFA Ptown Classic Women’s Flag Football Tournament from September 14th - 16th. Participants are welcome to enter their own full team or show up as an individual just looking to play. Awards will be given out at the end and there will be parties each night.
The final and biggest event of the year for women is Women’s Week from October 14th-20th. Over the past thirty years, Women’s Week has grown into a festival with over 150 events that attracts some of the most talented performers in the LGBTQ scene from all across the world as well as from the local community. Opera singers, comedians, actresses, authors, and musicians of all kinds flock to Provincetown for a week of celebration and entertainment and to participate in a wide array of events. There are plays by, for, and about women, Provincetown’s own American Idol, literary meet-and-greets, writer’s workshops, comedy shows, concerts, and more. In addition to performances are football and golf tournaments, whale watching, dune tours, and hikes. Provincetown’s historic art scene also takes a central stage with galleries featuring works by female artists and hosting events celebrating women in art. The week is chock full of opportunities for all women looking to experience the vibrant culture of Provincetown and to celebrate LGBTQ women.
