July is Full of Celebrations

4th of July

Kick off July with one of the grandest of them all - the 4th of July Parade! It begins at 11 a.m. at the Harbor Hotel and then proceeds down Commercial Street to Franklin Street. Parade entrants will be judged on Most Patriotic, Best in Parade, Best Musical, Children’s, and Adult Floats. This colorful event is the perfect way to celebrate Independence Day in Provincetown. At dusk, there will be fireworks over Provincetown Harbor. Don’t forget to wear your red, white, and blue!

Bear Week

Provincetown Bear Week is from July 13th - 21st and features an array of events that will cater to everyone’s tastes. This comprehensive week has everything you could want for a slow-paced, relaxing vacation or an action-packed schedule of dancing and parties. Every day has three to four pool parties, an afternoon Tea Dance, and at least two dance parties at night, each with a different theme, music, and atmosphere. For those more interested in relaxing than partying, there are organized outings to the beach, shopping at the Bear Market and locally-owned boutiques, strolling the gallery district, and more!

Secret Garden Tour

Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM) is offering a rare opportunity to visit the gardens of Provincetown during their annual Secret Garden Tour on July 14th. The tour includes exclusive access to stunning private gardens in a self-guided, walkable loop, free parking, free admission to PAAM, and free transportation from the parking area to the museum and the garden tour.

Walk/Run for ASGCC

The AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod hosts their Annual 5K walk/run on Sunday morning, July 21st, at 7 a.m. The event includes professional timing services complete with your own numbered bib, free t-shirt, and a breakfast buffet at the finish line. Come out to support a meaningful cause and get some exercise in the fresh, seaside air!

Girls Splash 

The big summer event for women in Provincetown starts on July 23rd. The week has performances of all kinds, ranging from talented comedians to musicians. There are also lesbian beach outings, whale watching tours, dune buggy adventures, sailing, and bingo. Each night will feature themed parties, such as a Pride party and a speakeasy. For women looking to enjoy all that Provincetown has to offer this summer, this is the perfect week.

Family Week

Provincetown is proud to host the largest gathering of LGBTQ families in the world each year during Provincetown Family Week from July 27th to August 3rd. The week serves to bring together LGBTQ families for an opportunity to become better educated about building community, while empowered and supported by others while enjoying the beautiful atmosphere of Provincetown. The week offers a wide range of activities, for both youth and for the whole family. Activities include an ice cream social, a tween and teen dance, workshops, yoga, whale watching, family pool parties, a parade, and much more.

Summer Party

GLAD (GLBTQ Legal Advocates and Defenders) hosts their 28th Annual Summer Party on July 27th at the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum. The event features live and silent auctions in addition to complimentary cocktails and snacks. Varla Jean Merman will be the celebrity emcee and auctioneer while Kate Clinton, award-winning comedian and entertainer, will be honored at the event for her persistent dedication to LGBTQ justice.

Whale Week

The Center for Coastal Studies, a conservation-minded organization based in Provincetown, will host Whale Week from July 28th to August 3rd. The Run the Trails for the Whales 5K will be the opening event for a week full of activities intended to raise awareness for the preservation of whales, one of the many ocean organisms that make the coasts around Provincetown uniquely rich. The run will progress through the Province Lands in the Cape Cod National Seashore and early registration includes a souvenir t-shirt. All funds will go directly to educational programs run by the center. The rest of the week includes a variety of races, guided walks, and educational talks all revolving around this worthwhile cause.
