Maryland Addiction Consultation Service provides phone consultations, education, training, and support to primary care and specialty prescribers in addressing the needs of their patients with ANY substance use disorders.
Every September, SAMHSA sponsors Recovery Month to increase awareness and understanding of mental and substance use disorders and celebrate the people who recover. The annual theme is Join the Voices for Recovery: Invest in Health, Home, Purpose, and Community.

Initial interview with patient using heroin. Dr. John Mariani, a Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS) Clinical expert, gives an example of how to initiate the first interview with a mock patient who is using heroin.
PCSS has developed an overview on identifying and treating substance use disorders so that administrative and clinical staff in your practice can gain a better understanding of substance use disorders and the patients you treat.
