I'm pleased to bring you a snapshot of some of the work I have been doing here in Sydney...

NSW State Election

Congratulations Premier Gladys Berejiklian on her victory for the NSW Liberal Party, and as the first elected female premier in NSW history. Now the Premier and the NSW State Government can get continue to #getitdone with a positive plan to build for the future over the next four years.

Congratulations to Alex Greenwich for his re-election as the Member for Sydney and congratulations to all the other Sydney candidates for their participation in our democracy.

Chinese New Year 2019

Sydney sure knows how to put on a Chinese Lunar New Year Party and after 2 official weeks of Chinese New Year plus extra days for those who never want the celebration to stop, that's it for another year! It was such a great celebration ushering in the year of the pig and a lot of fun catching up with family, friends and the whole community.

Homeless Street Count

Thanks team for your support for the City of Sydney Homeless Street Count. Twice a year, hundreds of volunteers gather at midnight to go out and do a census on those who sleep rough on the streets of Sydney. Even when you think you know something about homelessness, being a part of this count brings home the impact of sleeping rough on fellow humans.

Unfortunately the count found 373 people sleeping rough in the early hours of Tuesday, February 19, 44 more than the 329 people counted in the same month last year. The count found crisis and temporary accommodation beds to be at more than 86 per cent occupancy.

The recent commitment to rough sleeping targets by the NSW Government & the City of Sydney is a good first step towards eliminating homelessness. The agreements aims to halve homelessness by 2025 in NSW and reduce rough sleeping by 25% in the City of Sydney by 2020.

OceanProtect Panel

It was a pleasure to speak on the panel at the Ocean Protect Launch and take part in an important conversation on awareness and action required to stop the flow of pollution to our waterways to improve marine health.

According to Ocean Protect, 76% of Australians don’t know that stormwater is the biggest source of plastic pollution in our oceans so it is time to join the conversation and create positive change.

APY Gallery

Thank you to Simone and Skye O'Meara for giving me a tour of the 'Ngunytju Munu Untalpa - Mother and Daughter' exhibition at the APY Art Centre Collective.

The APY Gallery is a platform for emerging Indigenous Artists from the APY Art Centre Collective to connect with a wide audience outside of their remote communities, gain professional development opportunities and build a network within the art industry supporting them to pursue successful careers in the arts.

Mardi Gras

Sydney celebrated it's 41st Mardi Gras. The celebrations officially begun following the raising of the Rainbow Flag at Sydney Town Hall.

I was proud to support Councillor Forster's campaign to bring back The Rainbow Crossing at Taylor Square and I was pleased to see it completed in time for this year's Mardi Gras festival. The rainbow crossing will become a celebrated and iconic landmark in the heart of Sydney’s LGBTQI community.

Sydney 2050

The online survey for Sydney 2050 Strategic Plan is now open.

Every day 1.3 million people live, work, study, do business, shop and go out in our local area. All of these people have an interest in the future of Sydney and if you are one of these people, it would be great to have your input.

HERE to complete survey by the 22nd of April for an opportunity to have your say on our city's future.
