Hello <<First Name>>,

From Ashford to Peterborough, Folkestone to Wiltshire - we've been here, there and everywhere in the last month! Our first few weeks with MAF have been packed full of induction courses, training, meeting many, many new people and much more. And now we're getting ready to fly to Uganda this coming Saturday for our look-see visit, to give us a flavour of what's to come.

We'll send out a big update once we get back and have lots of pictures to update you with, but as it's a while since we've been in touch we thought we'd let you know what's been happening.

Week 1 - MAF International Induction

A week long course in Ashford, meeting some amazing people and learning all about MAF and about how to best prepare ourselves for living in a programme.

Week 2 - All Nations Training

A week of cross cultural training at the All Nations Bible college in Ware, Hertfordshire. Another fantastic group of people and a week of growing in knowledge and useful skills.

Week 3 - Training in Wiltshire

Dave spent a week at Kemble doing a course to add some extra skills to his aircraft maintenance license. He passed with an amazing 79%!

Week 4 - Home for a Week!

A chance to catch up on some emails, reading and start planning all that we need to do to get ready for leaving for Uganda in November this year! Also leading a service at Horton Heath Baptist Church.

Week 5 - MAF UK and Faith Camp

Our second induction was at MAF UK, meeting the amazing team there and getting an introduction to how MAF UK operates. Then it was straight on to Peterborough to speak to 11-13 year old's at Faith Camp.
If you want to know more about what we've been up to so far then take a look at the updates on our website.

An Amazing Introduction

We were merrily enjoying our time with support raising development officer at MAF UK, Adam Pope, during our UK induction when along strolled Stuart King, one of the men who founded MAF more than seventy years ago! We have been listening to the audio book version of Hope Has Wings as we've driven around the country to our various engagements; it's the story of MAF since its founding after the second world war. And suddenly there we were, face to face with the living legend who is its author! We couldn't resist asking for a cheeky photo (pictured at the top of this email).

What an incredible privilege and some good timing on our part to be in the office and catch him in passing. It's amazing to be part of an organisation with such a rich history, and to hear how God has continued to bless the work through the decades since its creation.
Please pray:
  • For a great time in Uganda, full of great meetings and useful information.
  • For protection and good health as we continue our preparations to leave the UK.
  • For the financial support we need to fall into place, as we will be unable to leave until we have enough backing set up.
  • Thank God that we've had enough energy to get through and enjoy these busy few weeks!
