Washington Unified's Measure K on the November Ballot

Measure K is a local school improvement measure that would allow the district to improve the quality of the school facilities and education provided to local students.  Specifically, Measure K would allow WUSD to repair or replace portable classrooms in buildings that are over 30 years old and to expand facilities to prepare for the projected growth in the Northern attendance area of the district. Click below for more information about how Measure K will improve our community's schools.

WUSD Attendance Up During Distance Learning

When California Governor Gavin Newsom issued guidance for re-opening California schools on July 17th, Fresno County schools learned that they would not be able to reopen in August as planned. Instead, WUSD schools created a plan for Distance Learning.  While there have been many changes, WUSD is proud that both staff and students have risen to the challenge.  Regular program attendance in WUSD has remained above 95% during the first two months of school!  This includes attendance in classes held online via Google Meet, and completion of assigned schoolwork. We are proud of our students, staff, and families for continuing to engage in learning during this difficult time.

Parents Utilize Google Meet Virtual Platform to Stay Active in the School Community
Washington Unified relies heavily on our partnership with parents in order to create a successful learning environment for students.  When many in-person gatherings were shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, WUSD began looking for other ways to keep parents involved in the educational community.  One of those ways is Google Meet, a free virtual meeting platform where parents and staff members can meet online for learning and discussion.  To learn about Google Meet, click below.

Washington Unified Provides Social-Emotional Support for Students and Families

Washington Unified believes social-emotional support is crucial for academic and personal success. Social-emotional support services provide students with skills needed in the classroom, in the community, and at home. Our hope is for all students to be able to recognize and manage emotions, develop caring and concern for others, establish positive relationships, make responsible decisions, and handle challenging situations effectively.

Families may need assistance when a loved one is struggling with social, emotional, and/or behavioral issues. Contact your school site today to talk to a counselor about the resources available to assist you and your family.  You can also visit our Social-Emotional Services resource page by clicking the link below.
