Featured faculty research:
Vicky Fouka

Vicky Fouka is Assistant Professor of Political Science and a new TEC faculty affiliate. Vicky earned her PhD in Economics from Pompeu Fabra University in Spain and came to Stanford in 2015. She is a Hellman Faculty Scholar and her work is funded by the Russell Sage Foundation. Her research examines the dynamics of group identity, with a focus on immigrant assimilation and the drivers of out-group prejudice. Learn more about Vicky's research.
Featured graduate student research: Danny Smith
Danny Smith is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Art and Art History where his research focuses on depictions of architecture and the development of linear perspective in late-medieval Italian painting. With the support of a research grant from The Europe Center, he traveled to Italy in the sweltering summer of 2017 to research Ambrogio Lorenzetti’s 1338 fresco cycle of the Effects of Good and Bad Government, in the Palazzo Pubblico in Siena. GRADUATE STUDENT GRANT COMPETITION
The Europe Center invites applications from graduate and professional students at Stanford University whose research or work focuses on Europe. Funds are available for Ph.D. candidates across a wide range of disciplines in the humanities and social sciences to prepare for dissertation research and to conduct research on approved dissertation projects. The Europe Center also supports early graduate students who wish to determine the feasibility of a dissertation topic or acquire training relevant for that topic. Additionally, funds are available for professional students whose interests focus on some aspect of European politics, economics, history, or culture; the latter may be used to support an internship or a research project.
