Hope everyone is having a wonderful and "warm" week - finally! I'm sure many of us are relieved that warmer weather has finally arrived and we no longer have to wear multiple layers!
The group classes offered this past term has been really well attended - averaging about 14-20 people registered in each class! Thank you to all of those who came out :) We have our "final exam" this weekend (March 23) at the Motyka Studio's Ballroom Bliss Party. There may still be a couple of seats left so let me know if you'd like to come out. Tickets are $20/person and the dancing starts at 8 pm.
In about a month, I will be off to San Francisco to compete in the standard ballroom division with Rafael at April Follies. I'm anxiously waiting for my new tux to arrive from London - let's hope it gets here soon! From there I will be heading to Emerald Ball Championship in Los Angeles to take part in the United States Dance Congress. Some of the legends I'll be learning from are: Arunas Bizokas & Katusha Demidova, Victor Fung & Anastasia Muravyeva, Donnie Burns, Karina Smirnoff, Eugene Katsevman, etc. I'll be posting pictures and hopefully videos on the HLSB facebook page for all of the events I'm off to...as well as the new costume...so feel free to check them out there!
In terms of classes over spring and summer, I will have two group classes at U of M on Wednesday nights in May only. The next newsletter should be sent out near the end of August.

Cha-Cha Intensive Class @ U of M
The cha cha is a cheeky and fun Latin-American dance which is useful to learn as it can be danced to a variety of music. Over the 4 weeks we will be covering select figures from beginner up to the silver level. Lead and follow numbers cannot be guaranteed. No previous dance experience necessary. Lead and follow numbers cannot be guaranteed.
The Viennese Waltz is only offered at the University once every couple of years, so don't miss out the opportunity to learn this elegant ballroom dance. This is a faster dance where the dancing couple gracefully orbits around the dance floor. Although we will be starting at the basics, it would be helpful if participants have previous introductory dance experience. Lead and follow numbers cannot be guaranteed.
