Shortly after I sent out the newsletter last week the two U of M classes (Beginner Viennese waltz and cha cha intensive) are now more or less full! Thank you to those who have already registered!
My supervisor has decided to open two classes on Tuesday nights:
Beginner Viennese Waltz Intensive - 6:45-8 pm
The Viennese Waltz is only offered at the University once every couple of years, don't miss out the opportunity to learn this elegant ballroom dance. This is a faster dance where the dancing couple graciously orbits around the dance floor. Although we will be starting at the basics, it would be helpful if participants have previous introductory dance experience.
Beginner Argentine Tango Intensive - 8-9:15 pm
The Argentine tango is a beautiful dance and at the basic level comprised of walking and swiveling steps done with intricate footwork by the lead and follow. This class will cover the fundamental steps of Argentine tango and build the base for more advanced movement classes in the future. Lead and follow numbers cannot be guaranteed. No previous dance experience necessary.
I believe the cost is $42.60 for an individual and $68.16 for a pair (discounts available for U of M gym membership holders). The classes run from May 7 until May 28 (four lessons). To register for these classes you have to do it in person at the Active Living Centre customer service desk! Act soon before they fill up too!
As well, I will have one last free cha cha and jive class as part of Out There Winnipeg's Dance Group on Saturday April 6 from 5-6:30 at the Ted Motyka Dance Studio. The class is open to those in the LGBT community as well as allies.
