I hope this newsletter finds you and your loved ones happy and well.
I apologize for the radio silence since September. My dance classes have been shut down since the fall and my administrative role at the University has and continues to take up a significant amount of time. My administrative position's contract terminates at the end of June so we'll have to see what the Universe has aligned for me next.
I'm happy to announce that around the beginning of November, I was recognized by CBC Manitoba as one of Manitoba's Future 40 (under 40). Hopefully that gave a bit of exposure to ballroom dancing (and chemistry) and we see an increase in interest when we get back to normal! I'd like to thank those involved with the nomination ;)
Normally Easter weekend is when the Canadian Closed Championships are held so I'd fly out to wherever the host city is just for the weekend to recharge and absorb some of the best dancing in Canada. For the second year in the row, it's been canceled thanks to the pandemic. I have been missing the dancing and people in dancing very much.
I've been getting some inquiries as to when classes will start up again and it's not looking like I'll be doing group classes any time soon however I might be willing to start up private lessons again if there's interest. As usual, they would take place on Saturdays starting in May and just like in the fall, we will be operating with COVID-preventative measures (masks, hand hygiene, sanitization). The COVID variant situation seems to be getting worse in some areas of the country so I will be monitoring the situation. However send me an email if you'd be interested in getting back onto the dancefloor.
Well, that's it for now. Hopefully (with optimism) that my new newsletter will have information on group classes. Stay healthy and all the best,
