Happy spring everyone!

What a term it has been! Of my years teaching ballroom classes at U of M, I have never seen so much interest in the classes. The beginner standard ballroom class was so big that we had to divide it into two classes and the beginner Latin class was also maxed out in enrollment! Hopefully that's a good omen of reviving interest in the art!

I have some exciting news to share! I have registered to compete at the Gay Games in Paris! Unfortunately my partner is in Vancouver so I'll be making some trips out to Vancouver for training over the next few months before heading to Paris in July. Needless to say, my teaching schedule for the spring and summer will be drastically reduced. Currently there are over 7600 people registered for Gay Games in 36 events and there are a couple of hundred registered dancesport competitors! As well, prior to the Gay Games event, I will be in San Francisco for the North American Same-Sex Dance Championships at the end of April just to get a feel for what an official same-sex ballroom dance competition is like.

I'll be posting pictures and hopefully videos on the HLSB facebook page for all of the events I'm off to this summer so feel free to check them out there!

In terms of classes over spring and summer, I will have some group classes at U of M on Wednesday nights and I'm offering two specialty workshops in April and May. I will not be holding any classes in July and August. The next newsletter should be sent out after I return from Paris, at the end of August.

Private Lessons @ Ballroom on Roslyn

Private lessons are available at my Osborne Village studio location. Cost is $50/55 minutes. Please contact me by email to book your time (there are currently only a couple of spots remaining in April and May)!

Workshops @ Ballroom on Roslyn

The following workshops are offered for April and May. Students in these classes must have the basics of the dances. Cost is $20/person for each workshop. Email me to register!

Workshop 1: A Ton of Feathers - April 21 (10 - 12 pm)
In this workshop we'll be learning various feather combinations in international foxtrot. Students must have at least bronze level international foxtrot experience.

Workshop 2: Foxtrot Fallaways - May 5 (10 - 12 pm)
In this workshop we'll be learning various advance fallaway steps used in international foxtrot. students must have at least bronze level international foxtrot experience.

Beginner Social Ballroom Classes @ U of M

Do you have social or wedding events to attend this spring or summer and are worried about what to do on the dance floor? This class is for you! We will learn the basics of cha-cha, jive, rumba, social foxtrot and waltz, which will cover a majority of dance music. Lead and follow numbers cannot be guaranteed.

Time: 6:45-8 pm
Date: Wednesdays, April 25-June 27 (10 weeks)
Cost: $106.50 (individual); $170 (pair) (gym member discount available)

Intermediate Ballroom Classes @ U of M

This class is for those who have taken the beginner ballroom dance class or have previous ballroom dance experience. Instruction will focus more on technique and advanced steps to two or three dances, to be decided by the class. Lead and follow numbers cannot be guaranteed.

Time: 8-9:15 pm
Date: Wednesdays, April 25 - June 27 (10 classes)
Cost: $106.50 (individual); $170 (pair) (gym member discount available)
