We have big plans to equip even more Christians to resist Trumpism spiritually and politically—but reaching more people takes each of us pitching in a few dollars. Become a Patron of the Resistance Prays today.
Due process within the impeachment inquiry. House Democrats give due process to President Trump, even if he would deny it to others.

House Democrats unveiled a resolution Tuesday reaffirming their impeachment inquiry and setting out the process for continuing to examining whether the President improperly tried to pressure Ukraine into launching an investigation into a potential political rival. The measure will enable public hearings and a release of the witness interviews already taken by House committees and will allow the President and his attorneys to cross-examine witnesses.
"A single witness shall not suffice to convict a person of any crime or wrongdoing in connection with any offense that may be committed. Only on the evidence of two or three witnesses shall a charge be sustained."

-Deuteronomy 19:15; New Revised Standard Version
We believe in due process. As US Americans, as progressives, and as Christians, it is deep in our traditional values to respect every person’s right to a vigorously fair process when they are accused of wrongdoing. Since the earliest days of our faith, we have believed in due process. Our Jewish ancestors had an elaborately detailed justice process, rooted in the law given to Moses in the desert. Jesus, before he died after a sham trial under the authority of a repressive colonial occupier, emphasized the importance of a deliberative approach in Matthew 18.

Due process is part of our heritage. Due process belongs even to those who would deny it to others. Even President Trump, whose administration has forced toddlers to represent themselves in immigration proceedings, has a right to it. Any attempt to hold him accountable for his misdeeds would lose credibility if it didn’t respect the principles of due process. That’s why it’s heartening that House Democrats are pursuing an impeachment process that exceeds previous impeachment inquiries in terms of due process. The American people deserve it and our commitment to God’s justice requires it.
Call or email the office of Speaker Pelosi to thank her and other Congressional Democrats for creating a fair and transparent impeachment process.
High God, holy God:
you rule the ways of peoples,
and govern every earthly government.
Work with those who work for peace.
Make every person in authority an agent of your reconciliation,
and every diplomat an ambassador of hope.
Bring peace and goodwill among all people,
Fulfilling among us the promise made
in Jesus Christ, who was born to save the world.
