President Biden has been inaugurated, but Christian nationalism is still a danger to democracy.

"Militant Christian Nationalists Remain A Potent Force, Even After The Capitol Riot," NPR reported. "The post-election expressions of right wing Christian protest suggest that Christian militancy on occasion can lead to political extremism."
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:

a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to throw away;
a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.

–Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
The Resistance Prays was founded to spiritually and politically defeat Trumpism. While Trump is thankfully out of office, we know that the resistance to the ideology of Trumpism must continue. We will continue publishing The Resistance Prays to equip your Sacred Resistance to the evils of white supremacy, economic inequality, climate destruction, and so much more. We will also be focusing more on violent Christian nationalism, which was on full display during the Capitol insurrection. I believe that Christians have a responsibility to confront the evil that is done in the name of our faith tradition.

The reason I wanted to publish a daily newsletter was simple: The evil of the Trump administration was coming at us so fast that I thought a devotional that would tackle the issue of the day would help center us. There were several days where we even published two devotionals! There were many days where it was difficult to choose which issue to tackle. Thankfully, we're entering a new season. We're going to pivot to publishing weekly now. Hopefully, the news cycle going forward will be less frantic. While the issues are no less important, our writers and editors will have more time to craft messages, prayers, and action items that will help your Sacred Resistance.

As we continue to root our activism in prayer and scripture, let me express again my deepest admiration for everything our all-volunteer team, Patreon supports, and readers have done through and apart from this newsletter. Publishing The Resistance Prays and connecting with all of you has been one of the greatest honors of my life and I'm so excited to see where we go from here. Rooted in our faith and looking forward to building the Beloved Community, we journey together onward!
