Mark 6:34 says “when Jesus landed and saw the crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd.” I’m immediately struck by the word “saw.” Jesus sees people. This simple concept can be so easily neglected. So often we can be wrapped up in our own lives that we don’t really see people. I’m even thinking back over the past week and wondering how many times I missed seeing the people God placed in my path.
When we see people as Jesus did, we respond with compassion, through the power of the Holy Spirit in us. Each day, God has given us an incredible opportunity to interact with people who have lost hope. They are experiencing disappointment and emptiness in life, and are in search of something that has meaning and purpose.
Sometimes we don’t think God can use us to share his message. We feel like a broken tool, uncertain and ill-equipped. As we begin a new sermon series on the book of Acts, we will see proof that God works through those who are weak. Let me encourage you to think about the disciples and how they must have felt when they abandoned Jesus at the cross. Or about Paul who zealously murdered Christians. These are the men God chose to spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth. We will be studying in-depth the power, work, and person of the Holy Spirit. The transformational belief that it is only through his power that we are able to be his witnesses in the world gives us the courage and perspective to obey such a call.
We look forward to seeing you on Sundays or throughout the week as we have a number of different Bible studies that are available to you. We pray that in the coming days and weeks ahead you will take your next steps in following Christ and being part of his mission to share the gospel to the ends of the earth.

For the past several months, church leadership has been praying about the decision of where we will continue our Worship Services. The Deacons wrote a letter explaining their decision. If you have not read the full letter, click here to view it.
"As we have studied God’s word, we have renewed our commitment to the church being a body of believers, not a building. As a result, we believe God is calling us to continue our worship services in the Hall."

As many of you know, we recently partnered with My Brother's Place, an organization whose mission is to provide spiritual and physical refuge to families in need. By partnering with them, we allow our parsonage to be used as a short-term housing solution for a local family in need.
We wanted to let you know that a family has recently moved into the parsonage. You might see the couple out and about, along with their 2 children (and one on the way!). Please be in prayer for this family and My Brother's Place as they come alongside them.

We were excited to have a table at the Hampton Easter Egg Hunt a few weeks ago. It was a great opportunity to meet the community, hand out goodies, and invite people to our Easter service. We are looking forward to another opportunity on June 11 as we will have an inflatable obstacle course and face painting set up for Hampton Day! Please contact the church office if you are interested in helping.
