Happy (4)1st Birthday to Albertine!
It’s been a year since we proudly reopened Albertine’s trademark burgundy door after an extensive makeover, adding a first floor restaurant
and top floor party room
…and what a year that’s been! We’ve had floods, random fire alarms and blackouts, but most of all we’ve had a lot of laughs, and that’s largely down to you, our incredible punters – both old regulars and first time newbies.
On top of that this year we’re also celebrating Albertine’s original 40th
birthday. It was back in 1978 that my lovely mum Sarah and her cousin Camilla turned a slightly salubrious chicken shop (“Box o’ Chicken”, truly!) into a Francophile wine bar in this unlikely corner of Shepherd’s Bush and called it Albertine, after a character in her favourite book by Proust.
40 years on, the wooden pews, tables and chairs I remember collecting with her from church reclamation yards and antique shops across West London still adorn our beloved homely bar.
Have some cake & prosecco on us!
So to say thank you to you all - because without you there’s no Albertine - we’re celebrating all next week, and we’d like to invite you for cake and fizz on us
(only small proviso is that you have any main course in the bar or resto first - and we'll do the pud honours!).
We’re going to be celebrating Albertine’s Double Birthday the whole week long, from Monday 12th to Saturday 17th March
. Just show this birthday card to the staff (on your handy mobile device or printout) to claim your free pud & fizz and raise a glass with us to a West London institution – still going strong after 40 years. Whilst the area around her has changed beyond all recognition, Albertine is simply a legend and local landmark…
Three Cheers to being just a little bit like Béyonce – a Survivor!
