News from the Cape Elizabeth Education Foundation                      January 2020

It's cold, it's snowy and winter is securely upon us - but at CEEF we're already thinking Spring! While winter in Cape is always fun, we're looking ahead to our Spring grants and our 9th annual Golf Tournament and Auction held at beautiful Prouts Neck Country Club. Mark the date and look for an email with registration instructions soon! Not a golfer? You can still get in on the festivities at the afternoon auction and reception, enjoying a beautiful day out while helping CEEF. Your support provides funds for grants like Natureland highlighted below - one of the 17 grants awarded in 2019.  However you celebrate winter - sledding, skiing, cozying up with a book and a cup of tea - enjoy the season!

Grant Spotlight: Natureland!

CEEF's donation of Natureland has created many outdoor learning opportunities this winter! Kindergarteners used the weather station as they kicked off their weather unit in science, making observations about the wind and precipitation for their “Weather Station Guidebook”.

Mrs. Robbins' 2nd grade class harvested some of the cold weather crops growing in the hoops that were planted in the fall.  They were even able to make a salad and taste it!
Winter crops about to become a snack in Natureland!

  Red Apple Awards

Congratulations to the following Red Apple Award recipients! As an appreciation for their dedication, a donation to CEEF was made in their name by parents wanting to recognize them for going above and beyond for their students!

On December 19th, nearly 50 CEHS alumni from the Class 1989 to Class 2019 came back to CEHS to participate in Alumni Day. CEEF was proud to sponsor a reception welcoming the alumni home to Cape! Alumni led panels of group discussions with current juniors and seniors to give their views on life after CEHS, including the transition to college and/or the workforce.
