You are helping to fund the future.

We are deeply grateful for all who have already answered the call this year to provide support for our mission.

Our students and teachers are facing new challenges every day due to the obstacles created by the health crisis. The Vigo County Education Foundation (VCEF) has responded by providing over $145,000 to our schools since May 2020.  These resources have been used to:

  • Purchase over 200 Chromebook computers for second graders at schools with the highest student poverty rates.
  • Fund 15 Wi-Fi school bus hot spots providing access to online education in rural areas and for those in need.
  • Provide extra food for grab and go meals during the summer food distribution by the school corporation.
  • Provide over $54,000 for 90 classroom mini grants empowering teachers to creatively enrich their curriculum in innovative ways that would not be possible otherwise.

With your help we can and will do more.  The Foundation is able to provide these critical resources because individuals, businesses and foundations have confidence that the VCEF will maximize their donations to meet the most urgent needs of our schools and their students. Thank you!
Even during a school year that is unlike any we have experienced, your gift directly impacts the student experience.  Frontline educators recognize the difference your gift makes:

“Your support of Read Live is so important because the lab improves below average students’ skills in reading, writing vocabulary and comprehension.”  - Woodrow Wilson Middle School, assistant principal

“My students will experience the excitement of the scientific process from brainstorming, to design and testing of prototypes, thanks to the foundation’s funding!” - Farrington Grove Elementary, fourth grade teacher
“We are so grateful for our grant and can’t wait to use our new outdoor learning lab.”  - Meadows Elementary, third grade teacher

Science, social studies, and language arts curricula are enriched through the purchase of Scholastic News magazines. These weekly magazines provide rich content and exploration into a variety of nonfiction topics.  They include an online component which may be accessed while learning at school or at home. Mrs. Gomolisky, Terre Town Elementary, writes, "the articles inspire student discussions, create an interest in new topics, and encourage students to read." Many classrooms in a number of grade levels are enjoying these enrichment materials, thanks to a VCEF grant.
Many grants allow teachers to bring the science curriculum to life, infusing the classroom with hands-on, project-based learning. These students in Mrs. Runyan's sixth grade science class are learning about aquaponics, Newton's Law and kinetic and potential energy.
Now more than ever, the VCEF and our students are grateful for your support!  Your gift is an investment—an investment in our community’s K-12 students and an investment in our future.
Thank you for joining us as we continue to grant opportunities for enhanced learning throughout these unprecedented times.
Did you know?

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act was passed on March 27, 2020 to help taxpayers, businesses, and nonprofits in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and economic downturn.

A reduction in taxable income is available in 2020 for donors who do not itemize their deductions, i.e., an “above-the-line” adjustment to income that will reduce a donor’s Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) and consequently taxable income. The adjustment is available for cash gifts up to $300 per taxpayer or $600 for a married couple.

Thank you for helping the Vigo County School Corporation and the Vigo County Education Foundation in their mission to bridge the digital divide, providing equitable access to a quality public education for all students.
