Newsletter 003
Dear Freyberg Whānau,

What a week! I'm sure that like most of us, you were somewhat blindsided on a normal Sunday evening by the news we were go to back to Level 3. We are getting to be lockdown pros by now though, and our teachers have been quietly preparing for this for months so the transition to online learning should have been fairly smooth for us all. Thank you for your patience while we have been ironing out a few communication issues with online portals, especially those of you with children who are new to our school.

By the time you get this newsletter we probably still will not know if children will be back to school on Thursday, but will send out information later this evening regarding any changes in alert levels and what that will look like for our school. We have our fingers crossed that things will be going back to (semi) normal, and please know that if they do we have strict health and safety plans in place to keep our staff and students safe and healthy. As always, we do ask that you do not send your children to school if they have a runny nose, sneezing, sore tummy, headache etc as we have a zero tolerance policy for this and will ask you to pick them up again. Thank you for your support around this.

This month Freyberg Community School would like any feedback you may have around our Home Learning policy. If you would like to read about this policy you can visit the SchoolDocs website, search for Freyberg Community School, and log in (username is 'freyberg' and password is 'learn'). You can then click on the 'policy review' link, choose the Home Learning topic from the list and use the red 'under review' button at the top right if you have any feedback to give.

Noho ora mai - stay safe,

 4 - 6pm

Sausage sizzle from 4pm outside Room 14
Mega obstacle course on the grassy area outside Rooms 14 & 13
(slightly different  obstacle course this year due to the water restrictions but we certainly aim to have the water slide part of the action for 2022).

Mr Whippy and Lil Orbits will be onsite on the courts by the middle playground.

Remember to pop into the office and see Juliette or Sharon to check (and update if necessary) your  child's student details.  It doesn't matter if you have been here one week or five years - we'd love to see you! This is a great time to check that your child's records (email, addresses, contact numbers, medical records etc) are correct.  All parents/caregivers checking these records will be in the draw to win our Summer Hamper.

The prize draw will take place on Friday 27th February at noon.
Wishing everyone lots of luck!!!!!

Come along, bring your picnic blanket..... meet the teachers, staff
and friends of Freyberg Community School.

We would love to see you!

A Message from the Lunchroom

Our lunchroom lady is Jodie.  The updated October 2020 lunchroom menu is available from the school and lists wonderful healthy choices available for those children who wish to purchase lunches from school.

Please ensure that all orders are placed in the classroom lunchbox held in your child's classroom and that all orders include your child's name, room number and correct money.

The lunchroom is also open at morning tea for those students wishing to purchase additional items, i.e. fruit, cookies, fruit moosies, etc.
Kia Ora and Hello to our Freyberg Whānau

Our current Alert Level 3 Lockdown definitely means the classroom situation differs from the norm but the learning continues for our amazing students.

From saying and writing "hello" in another language, finding objects that begin with the same letter as is in your name, baking, writing a great recipe (and no doubt making a super scrummy lunch), reading and writing about a good library book, producing fantastic art or creating a spot to watch a movie with family! Thank you to our wonderful teachers for sharing with me the feel good images below.

Keeping working hard and hope to see you all soon!
School Hats Missing

Please can you check that your child's school hat is clearly named.

Office staff are more than happy to assist with re naming hats that are
no longer clear to read.

We have many students stating that hats have been misplaced during the day. If your child has taken someone else's hat home in error please pop it into the school office where it will be returned to the rightful owner.
A  Friendly Reminder

Children arriving at school before 8.30am will not have any supervision by staff.  It is your responsibility to ensure that they are either booked into before school care, being supervised by a caregiver, or dropped off after 8.30am.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
