Dear Parents, Caregivers and Freyberg Whānau,

Welcome to term 4! The temperatures are getting warmer and I think we are all ready for some sunshine and Vitamin D after a tough year. On that note, please remember that in Term 4 until the end of Term 1 next year we have a 'no hat, no play' policy which means all children who are outside and not in the shade must be wearing a sunhat.
A huge thank you to everyone who supported our school Fun Run last term - we feel very lucky to have such a dedicated community! We have some very exciting plans around what we will do with the funds we raised so stayed tuned for more information...
We have a very busy term coming up with ICAS exams, interschool sports, Year 6 celebrations, class parties, team trips, class photos, reports, swimming lessons, and school camp. Our fingers are crossed for a lovely Level One term with no further lockdowns!
Don'f forget that next Friday - the 23rd of October - is our last Teacher Only Day for 2020 - we appreciate your support in advance. All staff will be offsite on this date to attend professional development in the CBD and our office will be closed.

Noho ora mai - stay safe,

Student Enrolments for 2021

Applications for both in zone and out of zone students close today - the 14th of October. If the number of out of zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot. If the ballot is required it will be held on Tuesday 20th October. Parents will be informed of the ballot results within 3 school days of the ballot being held.

It is important for all Freyberg families that if you have a sibling of a child who currently attends our school, due to start in 2021, all enrolment paperwork is handed into the school office today.

Is your child leaving Freyberg?  Are you moving out of the area?

Please let us know!  If you are moving or your child will be enrolling at a new primary school in the New Year, please notify the office staff.  We are currently in the very early process of finalising classes for next year and this will enable us to have accurate numbers for classes in 2021.

Organisation for 2021

Due to significant roll growth we are unable to accommodate parent requests for teachers/specific classes for 2021.  However, if you have information regarding your child's learning that may be valuable in placement we would encourage you to contact our senior management staff - Ms Maria Dopheide if your child is a Year 0 - 2, Ms Emma-lea Graaf if your child is a Year 3 - 4, or Mr Matt Allely if your child is a Year 5 - 6 student next year.

Our senior management staff will try to assist as best as they can.
Freyberg Team 4 Speech Competition

Congratulations to all those children who participated in the senior syndicate speech late last term.  The speeches were very well presented and all students deserve huge credit for speeches that had great content, were well delivered and kept their audiences interested and entertained.  It was an extremely tough decision for our judge - Principal Maria Dopheide - who was very impressed with the high standard.

The results are as follows:

1st - Belle Towns          2nd - Stevie Stanley-Rasmussen       3rd - Luke Takau

A big congratulations also to our other class winners - Kaydn Regmi, Charlotte'Rose Martell, Charlotte Trillo, Chloe Smith, Mufaddal Telwala, Lucas Martins and Joshua Earls.  Well done!
Bullying is a serious issue in Aotearoa New Zealand - our schools have the third-highest rate of bullying in the OECD and every year one in ten workers are affected by workplace bullying. Pink Shirt Day is a global day during which we come together to take action against bullying at work, schools, workplaces, whānau and communities where everyone feels safe, valued and respected.

This year Freyberg will be celebrating Pink Shirt Day on Friday 16th October with a 'gold coin koha' mufti day with all proceeds going direct to the Mental Health Foundation to support their important mahi.
Freyberg Fun Run - Reminder

The last day for all cash sponsorship money to be handed into the school office was Friday 25th September  - please ensure all sponsorship money is sent to the school  as soon as possible.

Remember to log on to your Freyberg Fun Run profile and select your prizes.  The last day to select prizes is Friday 23rd October.
