Missing Items - School Uniforms/ Shoes/Swimming Goggles

The swimming programme for the juniors took place from 15th March until 26th March.  During this time we always seem to have items accidentally picked up by others as the students are getting changed into togs/back into school uniforms.  If during this time your child has brought home any of the following items in error kindly drop them into the school office where they can be returned to their rightful owners.

Size 4/6 polo shirt - named Azariah Poppleton
Brand new girls black T-bar school shoes &
swimming goggles - white and pink - named Riley Carseldine
Size 6 polo shirt - named Elijah Sila
Size 10 polar fleece jacket - named Catherine Duong - misplaced in Room 15

The stress created for students/parents/staff due to the loss of items could be avoided if all items were clearly named.  If you need assistance with naming any items office staff are more than happy to assist.

 Important Information regarding Freyberg Netball

On Thursday 18th March we handed out Netball “expression of interest” forms  to all students wishing to play Monday / Thursday Netball for Freyberg Community School. For those families new to Freyberg Netball please note that Years 1 – 4 play on Thursday afternoons and Years 5 & 6 play on Monday afternoons at Netball Waitakere, Te Pai Courts, Henderson.

We have received some 30+ expressions of interest returned covering all year levels.  Unfortunately with only 3 offers of coaching/managing a team not all teams will go ahead.  Last week letters were handed out to those students concerned in Year 1, Year 3 and Year 5 informing them that teams would not be going ahead.

I can confirm that our first Netball meeting will take place tomorrow (Thursday 8th April) at 3.15 p.m. outside Room 7.  The meeting will be for approximately 15-20 mins and will give everyone an opportunity to meet their child's team coach/ manager and ask any questions you may have.

Please note that registration fees are due to be paid by Friday 16th April or Monday 3rd May at the very latest.  Feel free to contact Mrs Prins in the office or Ms Jenner in Room 20 should you have any questions.

We are excited to share the news that Freyberg Community School will be welcoming the NZ ice skate tour to our school hall! This will be taking place on the night of Monday the 6th of September and there are limited spaces - so get in quick. The school receives 20% of takings after the event so it is a great fundraiser for us! All students will receive an ice skating lesson during school time so it's a great opportunity for them to show off their new skills.

Save the Date

We are hoping to hold our Freyberg Annual Athletics Day on Thursday the 15th of April, COVID and weather depending.  This is a schoolwide event for all students.  We encourage everyone to dress up in their house colours  on this day.  Face paint, pompoms, hats, socks, wigs etc are a fun way to show their house loyalty!
If you are unsure of your child's HOUSE please contact the class teacher or call/email the office staff who will be able to assist.

We'd love to see as many whānau members there as possible, so lock it in your calendar and keep the date free!
Room 18 Chronicle Contribution

Room 18 have been learning and writing about "Super Similes".   It is great to know that our students can write such imaginative prose. Thank you Luca, JJ, Kyla and Ella for sharing your writing.
It gives me great pleasure to share with you that Rutherford College has been serving families in Te Atatu Peninsula and surrounding areas for the past 60 years.
As part of our 60th year celebrations Rutherford would like to welcome you and your whanau to our community open day. The Saturday event is a free event and is an opportunity for the community to come and see our wonderful campus and the huge range of subjects and activities on offer at the school. There will be guided tours from 10:30am-12:30pm where you can see our students in action in the classrooms. For those interested in Community Education Programmes a number of these courses will also be showcased on this day.
Throughout the day we also have planned a wide range of entertainment. Our cultural groups have a stunning line up prepared, starting at 11:30am. This will be hosted on the batter/school fields with our Te Kotuku Kapa Haka group first up, followed by our Samoan Group, Indian Dance Group, Tuvaluan Group and African Dance Groups. Our music, dance and drama students will also be performing starting at 12:30pm in the hall.
There will be a variety of food trucks onsite between 10:00am and 3.00pm, bouncy castles and the opportunity to join in many different sports games starting from midday. As this is a special celebration and many of our foundation students will be joining us, we have also dedicated a special lounge for those ex-pupils to korero with each other.
Please click
here for further information.
Rutherford is proud to have always had a strong and active relationship with families, local schools and the community and we warmly welcome you to come and spend the day with us.
On Friday, 9 April there is a mix and mingle in the school hall commencing at 5pm with a short powhiri and the celebrations continuing through until 11pm. Tickets can be purchased for this event
