Principal's Message

To staff, students and Freyberg Family,

I have enjoyed eighteen wonderful years as principal of our fabulous school and have thoroughly enjoyed the privilege of working with you to give our lovely students the best opportunities we can to develop happy, caring, creative and critical thinking people. I am genuinely very proud of this school and proud to be a part of it.

I believe the time is now right for me to step aside, due to the feeling that I am on the cusp of something new, and knowing the school is in a strong position.

Most importantly, and my priority for now, is that I have elderly parents who I would really like to spend more time with, and, to spend more time with my husband, our four grown up children and their very young families.

This school has a legacy of very capable and lovely people contributing over many years to make it the beautiful school that it is today. It is full of forward thinking, creative and caring people - trustees, staff, students and parents.  It makes me confident and happy to know that I am leaving it in good heart, with highly effective people running it and fantastic people supporting it.

The school will advertise for a new principal in the February 17th Gazette. Applications will close on March 6th. Shortlisting will take place on March 10th and and interviews will be held on March 14th. The new principal will commence in term 3.

The process will be overseen by Ken Ward, a senior consultant for Leading Learning.

The senior managers will run the school in term two with Maria Dopheide as Acting Principal. She will be ably assisted by Emma-Lea Graaf and Matt Allely who are highly effective Senior Managers.

Ms Dopheide has been running the school for two days a week for the last two years while I have been the Community of Learning Leader for the Te Atatu schools. She has done a fabulous job and I have every confidence in her and her team.

Warmest Regards,

Christine Wilson
Principal

A Message from the Lunchroom

Our lunchroom lady is Jodie.  The 2020 lunchroom menu is available from the school and lists wonderful healthy choices available for those children who wish to purchase lunches from school.

Please ensure that all orders are placed in the classroom lunchbox held in your child's classroom and that all orders include your child's name, room number and correct money.

The lunchroom is also open at morning tea for those students wishing to purchase additional items, i.e. fruit, cookies, fruit moosies, etc.

Due to unforseen circumstances
please note that the lunchroom will be closed
on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week.

Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
A Freyberg "feel good" moment - a new year and new friends!
School Hats Missing

Please can you check that your child's school hat is clearly named.

Office staff are more than happy to assist with re naming hats that are
no longer clear to read.

We have many students stating that hats have been misplaced during the day. If your child has taken someone else's hat home in error please pop it into the school office where it will be returned to the rightful owner.
A friendly reminder that children arriving at school before 8.30am will not have any supervision by staff. It is your responsibility to ensure that they are either booked into before school care, being supervised by a caregiver, or dropped off after 8.30am. Thank you for your cooperation.
