Student Enrolments for 2021

This term we are calling for all enrolments (in zone and out of zone) for children wishing to attend Freyberg School in 2021.

Applications for both in zone and out of zone students will close on Wednesday 14th October. If the number of out of zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot. If a ballot is required it will be held on Tuesday 20th October. Parents will be informed of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.

If you have a child already attending Freyberg and they have a younger sibling due to start in 2021, paperwork needs to be completed before 14th October.

Please contact the school office
if you have any questions regarding your zone status
or require a school enrolment form for 2021.

Swimming Programme
Team 1 (Rooms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 7) & Team 2 (Rooms 8, 9 & 10)

The swimming programme delayed from Term 1 will recommence on Monday 14th September for a period of 2 weeks.  Please note that there are 9 lessons remaining of the planned 10 lessons due to have taken place.

There will be NO SWIMMING LESSONS on Friday 18th September due to the Freyberg Fun Run taking place.

Please ensure your child brings his/her swimming togs and towel for their lessons.  All uniform and swimming items should be clearly named for ease of return should they be accidentally misplaced.

Duck n Dive after school lessons have been taking place throughout the past week and are operating under Ministry of Health guidelines to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

There is no cost for swimming lessons due to Freyberg Community School opting into the Government Donations scheme for 2020.

2020 School Term Dates  &
            Teacher Only Days

Term 3: Monday 20th July-  Friday 25th September

Term 4: Monday 12th October - Wednesday 16th December

Teacher Only Day :
Friday 23rd October
This term classes have been given the opportunity to take part in the HELL Pizza Reading Challenge, which is being run in conjuction with the 2020 New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults.

The Hell Pizza Reading Challenge is a highly successful programme that gets kids reading and enjoying the pleasures of books with free pizza rewards.

Classes participating have now received their "pizza wheels"  and every time a student finishes a book, the wheel gets clicked off. Once complete the wheel requires a school authorisation stamp (available from the office) on the reverse of the wheel enabling them to redeem their free pizza.

A great reading challenge with tasty rewards!
Important Information regarding ICAS Assessments

2020 ICAS assessments were due to begin next week.  Please note that due to the uncertainty of Covid-19, assessments have been rescheduled to take place in the first two weeks of Term Four - i.e. 12th October - Friday 23rd October.  More information will be provided in next week's newsletter confirming subjects and sitting dates.

Is your child missing their school jacket?

We currently have some 12 polar fleeces/shower proof jackets (and 2 sweatshirts from Rippa Rugby) in the school office waiting to be returned to their rightful owners.  Unfortunately all of these jackets are either unnamed or have the name of a student who no longer attends Freyberg.  If you have been given a 2nd hand jacket please ensure that your child's name is clearly marked on the inside of the jacket for easy recognition.  If you recognise  the following name - Cyrus Berghan - and have not updated your child's name please see the school office staff who will happily clearly rename the jacket and return it to you.

A large number of these jackets have been in the office since late May.  Any unclaimed jackets at the end of August will be washed and will be available for distribution.  Please see the office staff if you have any questions.
The LUNCHROOM is now OPEN
Please note noodles and pasta will not be available
for the remainder of the term.
