An Important  Message from our Principal

I am delighted to announce that we have a new Principal. I would like to thank the Board of Trustees for following a robust process in this very important undertaking.  The Board of Trustees engaged a Senior Consultant, Ken Ward from Leading Learning, who has a great deal of experience as both an experienced School Principal and Community Of Learning Lead Principal.

The successful candidate is Maria Dopheide. She is currently part of our management team, with our two capable senior managers Emma-Lea Graaf and Matt Allely. Ms Dopheide has been Acting Principal for two days a week for the last two years while I have been The Community of Learning Lead Principal.
I have every confidence in her leadership and the support of her highly effective senior management team.

I thank the Board of Trustees for being so willing to invest financially in engaging guiding expertise and for spending considerable time and effort, discussing and debating to ensure that they choose the best candidate. It is heartening to see a Board so invested and focused on doing their utmost to choose the next leader of our school.

On behalf of us all, congratulations to Ms Maria Dopheide
and a heartfelt thank you to our Board of Trustees!!

Christine Wilson
Principal

If your children  are  unwell (coughing, running nose, sneezing, a headache or fever, or generally unwell), PLEASE KEEP THEM AT HOME.

We appreciate that this is problematic but urge you to consider the bigger picture.  The children may be fit enough to come to school, but in these times, it is not wise to send them because of the danger of them catching the virus and not being in a well state to fight it, or passing a simple cold on to some one else and for that person to fall very ill due to an underlying health condition. This is critically important because we are in the midst of a pandemic and trying to contain it.

If you bring them to school, we will ring and ask you to take them home. This is because of the coronavirus pandemic. It is NOT because we think that your child has coronavirus.

Please support us:
If your child is unwell for any reason and if they come in contact with any one with the virus, your child will be more severely impacted as they were unwell in the first place.

If any one catches the cold or symptoms that your child is presenting - then they too have their immunity compromised. We have a number of staff, students and people in our direct community who already have their immunity compromised by other health conditions. They simply can not afford to get sick.

At school , we are emphasising good hygiene practice (washing hands with soap and water, sneezing and coughing into elbows, refraining from touching surfaces where possible) and constantly wiping down surfaces with disinfectant.

We understand that for many families, keeping children home when they seem fit enough to come to school is extremely frustrating, but we are fighting a much bigger battle here and health and safety must be prioritised over everything else.

Thank you for helping us.

Noho ora mai - stay well,
Christine Wilson
Principal

School Hats Missing

Please check that your child's school hat is clearly named.

Office staff are more than happy to assist with re-naming hats that are
no longer clear to read.

We have many students stating that hats have been misplaced during the day. If your child has taken someone else's hat home in error please pop it into the school office where it will be returned to the rightful owner.

ICAS Australian School Competition

We are making these available to all children in Year 4 to 6 classes, on an optional basis this year.  All of the Australian School Competitions provide an opportunity for all students to gain a measure of their own achievement in an external assessment situation.

Competitions are available in the following areas:
Digital Technologies, Science, Writing, English, Mathematics and Spelling.

Each child who sits the competition will receive a certificate and a detailed results letter. Cost for all online exams are $17.50 per subject.  Please note that exams will only go ahead if we have 3 or more students wishing to attend a particular subject.  If your child's exam does not go ahead any money paid will be refunded.

Should you require further information and would like an exam registration slip please collect these from the school office from Monday 16th March.

Last day for all registrations is Friday 29th May.
