Chronicle 008
Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We are now approaching winter, with our first real spell of wet weather and colder mornings. We are in the process of organising heatpumps to be installed in all classrooms very soon which will make our school a lovely warm place to be in winter and cool in the summer, which we are very much looking forward to! We do, as always, encourage all children to wear a warm uniform jacket and bring a waterproof raincoat or umbrella on a wet day.

In addition to our heat pump project, the toilet refurbishment in Rooms 17 and 18 has been completed and some long awaited roof repairs have been carried out throughout the school to ensure we have warm, dry classrooms this year.

A reminder that regular attendance at school really matters when it comes to your child's learning and their future. We are here to help and are happy to talk to you about any challenges you are having in ensuring your children attend school regularly.

A special hello to our latest New Entrants who have started in Room 3 this week - welcome to Freyberg!

Thank you for all your continued support and understanding during Alert Level 2. As always , if you have questions or comments please contact your child's teacher directly, or the school office at admin@freyberg.school.nz.

Noho ora mai - stay safe,

Maria Dopheide
Principal

Missing School Uniforms Prior to Lockdown

Lucas Martins from Room 18 is missing his size 10 polar fleece jacket and
Vanshika Kumar in Room 2 is missing her size 8 polar fleece jacket.

Both jackets are clearly named and have possibly been taken home in error in the rush just prior to lockdown. If your child has this at home, kindly return it to the office where it will be returned to the rightful owner.
A Message from Jodie at the Lunchroom

Did you know that the lunchroom sells American Hotdogs for just $2.50?
Certainly a nice change for lunch in this cooler weather!

Please note that
 NOODLES and PASTA are
NOT AVAILABLE this term.

We are making these available to all children in Year 4 to 6 classes, on an optional basis this year.  All of the Australian Schools Competitions provide an opportunity for all students to gain a measure of their own achievement in an external assessment situation.

Competitions are available in the following areas:
Digital Technologies, Science, Writing, English, Mathematics and Sp
elling.

Each child who sits the examination will receive a certificate and a detailed results letter.  Cost for all online exams are $17.50 per subject.  Please note that exams will only go ahead if we have 3 or more students wishing to attend a particular subject.

Should you require further information and would like an exam registration slip please ring the office.

Please return completed registration slip to the office when payment is made.  If your child's exam does not go ahead any money paid will be refunded. Payment can be made direct to the schools bank account  as follows: 12-3071-0231432-00. Please note your child's name and ICAS as a reference.

Last day for all registrations is Friday 3rd July.

Yummy Apple Sticker Collection

Please keep collecting your Yummy Apple stickers and coupons from Yummy Fruit and their bags (bought at Pak 'n' Save, New World and Four Square). We are able to trade these for FREE SPORTS GEAR! Just stick them onto any piece of paper while you are in lockdown and we can attach them to a collection sheet in your child's classroom when you get back to school.

Thank you in advance for any support you are able to give!
ASB School Banking Day
is Thursday.

Encouraging a good savings habit from a young age and making small and regular deposits is the best way to go. Even $1 or 50c a week is a great start to regular savings and creates a good savings habit. If you would like to register your child, applications are available from the school office. The children receive a Kashin banking bag which includes a savings diary, calculator and certificate.
Can you help?
We are in need of assistance to replace the box that holds the toys by the sandpit.  The plastic box unfortunately has not held up and we are wanting to replace this with a sturdy, wooden box that is suitable to remain outdoors.  Please note that the picture above is an example of size but not final design.  If you are a builder, know of a builder who could quote or are a handyman with building experience please contact the school office on (09) 8389664.
