It was wonderful to be able to welcome our learners back to school on Monday. The staff and I certainly appreciate the support that we have received from our school community in order for us to ensure our health and safety protocols at school are to a high standard.
For the next few weeks we will continue to have a school wide focus on wellbeing and settling back into routines. We do realise that everyday life is different at the moment and some children may be feeling a little uncertain about being back at school. Our priority is to ensure that they feel supported and happy and we will be closely monitoring this to ensure that all of our Freyberg children adapt well to being back.
We would like to know from our community how you think we did during the lockdown - what went well and what we could do better. Please click on the link below to complete our lockdown survey!
We would like to remind all parents that during Level 2 we will not be holding team or whole school assemblies unless they are online. Similar to pick ups and drop offs, we are unable to manage contact tracing when we consider the large amount of visitors who would need to enter the school for this to happen. We would appreciate parents and caregivers continuing to support our health and safety protocols by ensuring that you do not come onsite, that you do not drop children at school before 8.30am and that you pick your children up on time at the end of the day.
A special welcome to all of our New Entrants who have started in Room 3 this week - it has been a slightly different experience for you all but we are so glad that you have settled into school with such enthusiasm and positivity!
We hope that you have had/have a wonderful day
celebrating with family and friends!
A Message from the Office...
It was certainly a feel good moment to see our students returning on Monday eager to see us all and of course catch up with friends.
Below is a reminder of what our "new normal" looks like while we are at Alert Level 2.
School management have decided not to allow parents/caregivers or other visitors on site for the remainder of the time that we are at Level 2. This is to ensure that any contact tracing required will be as straightforward and simple as possible. The only exception to this rule will be for parents of students who are newly enrolled at our school (for example, New Entrants who started on 18th May), if there is an emergency, or if a visitor has received clearance from school staff. Any parent/caregiver who falls into this category will be required to sign in and out at the office for contact tracing purposes.
We appreciate that this may be distressing for some parents but we see it as a great opportunity for our students to develop their independence and self management skills while keeping our community safe at the same time. There will be staff at each gate to offer assistance if needed.
If you need to contact the office for any reason, to ask any questions or inform us that you are keeping your child at home - you can do so by calling us on (09) 8389664, texting on 027 364 7271, or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please also note that all Community Education after school classes have been cancelled for the remainder of the term. I understand that the Community Education Director, Linda, has been in touch with all families concerned to discuss rescheduling/refunds for all classes cancelled this term. We have also been informed by Duck n' Dive that the school pool is closed until further notice.

During the Lockdown period we could see that a huge number of students have taken advantage of accessing books
to read via the Scholastic e-platform.
We hope that you have enjoyed the variety offered and will continue to keep up your reading skills.

The username is Room 7 (change to your child's classroom)
The password is 1280 (this allows access for all Freyberg students).
Lucas Martins in Room 18 has misplaced his polar fleece jacket.
The jacket is clearly named and has possibly been taken home in error in the rush just prior to lockdown. If your child has this at home, kindly return it to the office where it will be returned to the rightful owner.
ASB School Banking Day is Thursday.
Encouraging a good savings habit from a young age and making small and regular deposits is the best way to go. Even $1 or 50c a week is a great start to regular savings and creates a good savings habit. If you would like to register your child, applications are available from the school office. The children receive a Kashin banking bag which includes a savings diary, calculator and certificate.
