Freyberg Culture Day - what an incredible day!

Huge thanks to the many staff and parents organising behind the scenes to make this annual event such a memorable day for all of our students! You are truly amazing and without you - days like this just don't happen!

Many students arrived wearing their national costume and house colours and it was great to see.    The students turned up excited, our MC (Mr Allely) was outstanding, organisation by Ms Dopheide meant behind the scenes ran like clockwork, the bell ringing was a little unpredictable (my only job....haha), the sun shone and the sickbay was empty.......a perfect day for everyone!

Please check out our Facebook page to view the many photos that were taken on the day :-)

The winning group on the day was Kowhai Group 9!  Congratulations!!!!

As a reward for being part of the winning group the following students are permitted to wear MUFTI this Friday 8th November:

Olivia Lee, Toa Taboru, Asher Hewitt, Hosea Valance, Keran Rimate-Allen, Melody Shabab-Wilson, Phoenix Tracey, Jennifer Quach, Prisha Sharma, Sophie Goldstone, Joseph Rimate-Allen, Leila Richard-Marsters, Mufuddel Telwala, Janessa Teava & Kaycen Tereanu-Kingi.
Is your child leaving Freyberg?
Are you moving out of the area?

Please let us know!  If you are moving or your child will be enrolling at a new primary school in the New Year, please notify the office staff.  We are currently in the very early process of finalising classes for next year and this will enable us to have accurate numbers for classes in 2020.

Organisation for 2020

Due to significant roll growth we are unable to accommodate parent requests for teachers/specific classes for 2020.  However, if you have information regarding your child's learning that may be valuable in placement we would encourage you to contact our senior management staff - Ms Maria Dopheide if your child is a Year 0 - 2, Ms Emma-lea Graaf if your child is a Year 3 - 4, or Mr Matt Allely if your child is a Year 5 - 6 student next year.

Our senior management staff will try to assist as best as they can.

What Teachers Want You To Know

The Importance of a Good Night's Sleep

Getting a good night's sleep often comes down to routines.  Avoiding late-night technology use and keeping a regular sleep schedule are two important techniques.

The number of nightly sleep hours required by children varies in age.  In general, five year olds should get 11 hours of sleep, nine year olds need 10 hours and 14 year olds require at least 9 hours.

If the child is not alert and functioning properly during the day, sleep length should be gradually increased or decreased, or bedtime routine should be adjusted.
As new polar fleece jacket &  3 x school hats clearly named Noah Kini.  If your child has taken these home in error kindly return them to the school office where they will be returned to the rightful owner.

At the end of each term and especially after school events (where students do not wear their school uniform) we always have a mountain of unnamed clothing (uniform and mufti), drink bottles, lunchboxes and shoes in our lost property box.  Returning these items is easier if they are adequately named. In addition to the above we currently have some 6 school hats and 4 polar fleece jackets - unfortunately not named - waiting to be returned to their rightful owner.

Please note that all lost property is held in the school office and will be put out on the junior syndicate courts by the sickbay weekly for all to view and hopefully claim :)

We also have an engraved silver bangle that has been located in a school bag (not used since 2018) from a student who was in Room 22 in 2018. If you can identify the engraving - we would love to return this no doubt treasured item to the rightful owner.
